So to the average person on the internet and off, for the amount of money we spend, American cars are what we are looking for when we want to crown the kings of performance. Go Gas mileage! OMG! How much gas dOz yur CAMARO TAYKE!!! Who cares. V8's are where it's at. Any non-V8 cars have to be turboed to be worth a ---- in the performance crowd. Modern V8's are superior to other engines. OMG BUT what about tHat one 4 cyl racECAR I sawl!!! Again who cares. Do yourself a favor. If your buying a car and you want the most performance that you can build upon it gets no further than American cars.

American Diesels.
American Pony cars.
Vettes.

Many modified examples out there.

That is real performance potential for your dollar.

I mostly agree with V8 aka displacement is king mentality if you want bang for the buck, but your vehicle selection at the end of your post is a bunch of ---- I would never own. Acquire some taste.

Fixed that for you.

No one ever aruged that more displacement isn't good and that a large modifed engine has the potential to make more power than a smaller modified engine. It becomes laughable when the dumbestic fan bois start hyping American automobiles to be the best cars on the planet, when the reality of the situation is exactly the opposite. It's not an opinion, it's a fact. Go read JD Power, hell, even read a biased ***, Jap hating magazine like Motor Trend or Car and Drive, the dumbestics are always at the bottom of the pile.

GM is on the verge of bankrupcy. Chryler is desparately trying to not head in the direction (to no avail). And Ford is only staying afloat because of the cars they sell in the European market (the ones we don't get here).

GM has 11 different brands and over 100 "different" car models.
Toyota has 3 different brands and 26 different models.

...and yet Toyota outsold GM last year by a signifcant amount. Why is that? GM should win purely on available vehicles alone. Hell, half the common brands available in the US are GM brands... and yet Toyota still outsold them... Why is that? I thought GM is on top of the world?

Look through them if you have time. GM will be gone in only a few more years. Make special note of two things, growth (or lack thereof from GM) and profit (or lack thereof from GM again).

http://www.toyota.co.jp/en/ir/librar...006/ar06_e.pdf

Yup, GM: still on top of the world. Best cars in the world. Can't beat them.

Were does all that profit go? GM's goes no where because it doesn't have any. Toyota spends it on fun stuff. Keep in mind, this is the budget for ONE of the many many race series they're involved in (Formula 1):

Engine budget
$150,000,000 Toyota

Operating the cars at tests
$24,700,000 Toyota

Team salaries
$32,300,000 Toyota

Operating the cars at races
$22,500,000 Toyota

Research and development
$21,500,000 Toyota

Driver salaries
$ 7,500,000 Toyota

Wind tunnel operating costs
$11,600,000 Toyota

Travel and accommodation
$12,000,000 Toyota

Corporate entertaining and catering
$ 6,300,000 Toyota

Car manufacturing costs
$2,000,000 Toyota

Total Yearly Budget
$225,100,000

GM hasn't even seen that much money in a decade, let alone being able to blow it on a signal race series for no other reason that corporate prestige.

Other team's total budgets for referance:

$443,800,000 Ferrari
$353,300,000 Williams
$304,600,000 McLaren
$225,100,000 BAR
$206,800,000 Renault
$119,500,000 Sauber
$ 79,200,000 Jordan
$ 78,800,000 Jaguar
$ 39,600,000 Minardi

Funny, I don't see GM up there. I thought they ruled the world? Surely a world ruling dumbestic company with as much race experience as GM has the resources (both monetary and technological) to race in the pinnacle of all automotive racing series. The fact that they aren't there must just be a typo. Better stick to low budget, Billy Bob drag racing, GM.

You only quoted F1 teams there buddy. And since they spend all that money in F1, why haven't they produced anything worthwhile? Sad isn't it. Spending almost a quarter of a million dollars on a wasted effort. And I didn't know Le Mans was Billy Bob Low Budget Drag Racing. Has Toyota done anything productive in any real racing series it has ventured into in the last decade? F1-Nope. Le Mans-Not there. Nascar-Nope. Mainly because their street cars blow ***, so they have nothing to base a road race car on.

Lately Toyota's been ------- up pretty bad trying to crank cars out on a GM style scale. Once Toyota is at the top of the game as far as sales go, they'll start looking to make profits in other areas, i.e. cutting costs. Companies like GM and Ford will be forced to up the quality of their automobiles to compete in the market, which they will be doing and already are doing.

toyota is already having problems paying for their hard working communized (unionized) american employees.

years down the road, they will start to have major problems with pensions, healthcare, etc... the same as the big three who have had one hand tied behind their back because of the high cost of union employees and government regulations about health care, etc...

Ive gone from 4 cyl turbo to six cyl twin turbo to na v8. Rhe v8 has the most usable power. The vg30dett was fun but the v8 has it beat. And just imagine a tt ls1. It woyls have ungodly power throughout the entire power band. The 4 cyl engines ive messed with needed a turbo to even be considered slightly respectable.

yes but they have more valves per cylinder, and there are more camshafts

plus making 120whp nothing ever breaks therefor the car is much stronger and better built than that POS 310rwhp 330rwtq car that broken a rear end once

i think i proved my point. go find some sweet japanese innovations. hey i think they do have one, first car you're almost guaranteed to die in in a 35mph crash (CRX)

I hit the *** of a truck going ~15mph when I was going around 55-60 and was knocked out, had a couple cuts, but came out pretty damn well considering I didn't have a seatbelt. Not saying they're safe, but they aren't as horrible as I thought. Don't insult the CRX

That video was a joke though.
