check the price on corvettes lately? they seem to hold their value pretty well except the zr1 considering it was very overpriced to begin with....

1974 shitbox smog motor 240hp are worth nearly what they sold for initially...

1988 corvette - 34% of original value
1988 toyota supra - 20.4% of original value
1988 rx7 - 27% of original value
1988 honda civic - 23% of original value
1988 camaro z28 - 22% of original value

2001 civic LX - 67% of original value
2001 camaro z28 - 53% of original value
2001 integra LS - 50.1% of original value
2001 nissan altima - 48% of original value
2001 chevy malibu - 37% of original value

I love how you pull random numbers and facts out of your ***. Even better is the cars you select to compare. 1988 what? Those cars are all rusted out piles of dust and ash at this point, who cares what they're worth. You even just proved youself wrong by showing that a Civic depreciates less than a far more expensive and far more rare Camaro.

2007 Civic LX coupe
Initial Price: $16,690

Depreciation per year:
Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 Year 4 Year 5 5-yr Total
$3,204 $1,656 $1,458 $1,292 $1,160 $8,770

Also of interesting note, Repair cost averages:
Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 Year 4 Year 5 5-yr Total
$0 $0 $94 $226 $330 $650

2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
Initial Price: $27,740 (over $10,000 more than the Civic, so by your logic it should have significantly less depreciation)

Depreciation per year:
Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 Year 4 Year 5 5-yr Total
$8,890 $2,461 $2,166 $1,919 $1,723 $17,159

Wow that's some sweet value holding it's got. That's a special model too. Yea, those definately hold value like no other.

Average repair costs per year:
Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 Year 4 Year 5 5-yr Total
$0 $0 $109 $258 $376 $743

Yea you definately got me there. Those dumbestics only suffer massive value loss because they're cheap to being with. Amazing how a RARE special edition Monte Carlo depreciates compared to a lame, dime-a-dozen Civic LX.

those numbers are not pulled out of my ***.

they are from autos.msn.com

your numbers are projected did you make them up did you design that depreciation model yourself? whats your algorithm

the numbers i posted are real, and current. comparing kelly blue book values against retail price when they were new.

your numbers = projections. nothing real about it.

there are exceptions to the rule. but most of the time expensive cars hold their value better than cheap ones no matter what make/model they are.

My numbers are from Edmunds, doesn't get much more subjective or reliable than that.

Projections? Nothing real about it? Are you familar with leases? Obviously not. Do you know that the buy out amount (residual value) at the end of a lease is predetermined based on the vehicle's set depreciation value? Obviously not. Do you realize that those numbers are the same numbers used to determine vehicle value at the end of a lease term and show actual depreciation? Obviously not.

You're looking dumber and dumber the longer this goes on.

The correct way to state that is: Quality cars (which usually cost more) depreciate less than ---- cars (which usually cost less).

The price is determined by the quality of the vehicle, which is the same thing that determines the rate of depreciation. The cost of the vehicle is a side effect of the quality that causes it to depreciate less. The higher cost is not the cause of the lower depreciation.

i saw a really queer looking guy in one of those MG wagon peices of junk

he floors it next to me, i literally look over and watch him inch past me as im cruising, and of course the thick black cloud of smoke behing him which is common to all british cars, even when they were brand new.

any car can take a corner well at very slow speeds
you are an idiot.

that said, yes, it pulls good G's at higher speeds too... idiot.

why would you say that the skyline is japans civic? i mean, where the ---- do you think the civic comes from. give me a break...

lets recap what a skyline is : 240sx + better front suspension + better looks + better engine - worse weight distribution than 200sx but not sure if its worse than the 240sx or not but probably.

ie, no need to be jealous of my slightly below middle of the range (5th fastest r32, 3rd slowest r32) skyline, just import yourself an rb25det and slap it in a 240sx for some serious fun :-)

jd/hitchhikkr/etc if you dont find this amusing, why are you reading it every day, and why do you occasionally post rather than just ignoring it and letting him let his frustrations out on some jap loving turbo fans? i'm sure we/i can handle it just fine.
