Don't just throw money at stuff (although a cherry picker is a nice to have tool0.
You already have the tools to do the job-if you want to do it without pulling the motor.
So without pulling the motor, this is what you need to do (at least).
1) put the front of the car on jack stands
2) take off the motor mount bolts
3) undo the steering rack to shaft coupling
4) pull the steering rack forward (this was a bitch with those rubber mounting bushings) you may have to remove a tire rod from the spindle but I forget.
5) You want the exhaust out of the way too.
6) put a piece of wood under your jack and jack the motor up under the oil pan.
7) when it has gotten to the max height and the mounts are free of the frame, stick some 2x4s in between the mounts. this will keep the engine raised.
remove the jack from under the pan. Your engine should be up now and stay that way. Check and makesure it is steady
9) now you can start to remove the pan. In order to get the pan off, you will have to remove the oil pump remote and strainer that goes from the front to the back. You need to do this sort of blind. there will only be just enough clearance to get your hand thru the pan-engine space to get at the bolts. Let the strainer drop into the pan. I think you need to remove the oil pump too-in the same fashion.
10) now with alot of wiggling, you should be able to get the pan off

It is not easy but I did it this way.

Alternatively, go buy a cherry picker (or rent one) pull the motor and remove and clean the pan, weld in fittings and reinstall the pan.

In any event, use the one piece felpro gasket. it costs but it is worth it.
Good luck

okay if the oil pan is too thin to tap into use this type of fitting shown here.....

since the pan is coming off now anyways .... do this part right .... clean the pan (varsol bath), get all the old gasket off, and install like this .....

this fitting is great... only cost me like 15 cdn...... it's made of 3 NPT fittings......

hope that helps.........

BTW I LOVE THE PROJECT..... took me 30 minutes to go through the 7 pages.... but it was well worth it ....

Don't worry about those morons talking ---- to you about your speech impediment or disability............ thats just bull ----....

keep up the GREAT work and keep up with those questions !!!

GREAT JOB ONCE AGAIN !!!!!!!

same thing, pull your drive shaft from the differential
yes, and put a plastic bag and rubber band over the tailshaft of the transmission....this will keep fluid from pissing all over the place
setup your hoist on the engine
If you can pull the upper manifold off and put some bolts through it
yeah, bring that up so the chains are snug but not pulling up yet
pull the wring from the engine..anythign you can
unbolt the down pipes so that nothign is going to bind the engine from tilting or lifting easy
unbolt the motor mounts
then unbolt the transmission mount
with the jack still under there, the engine will kind of pivor when you lower the jack
if you work the cherry picker at the same time, you shoudl be able to get the pan out

That will work-go for it. make sure everything is disconnected. Also, watch your fingers. The motor can be stuck and then you pry at something and it moves unexpectedly. That is alot of momentum.
It will be a good experience pulling the motor.
