Those are perfect examples of what not to do, and the fact that you aren't hotrex or stevemode is the reason why you will succeed. I don't think a 350-500 whp D16 is going to be particularly expensive, although you are going to run into some interesting ignition tuning issues. Nothing you aren't equipped to handle with your experience and knowledge.

Yeah I don't have much hands on experiance, but I think I have read and seen enough to know this whole car thing isn't that hard if you pick the right parts and take your time.

Example... http://forums.evans-tuning.com/viewtopic.php?t=3145

This is pretty close to a setup I would go with and with a few tweaks could get me to my goals or very close.

I do know about the headgasket issue, but I think with a good build and tuning I should be okay. The Full-Race pinks car didn't seem to have problems and Jeff Evans says he wouldn't be worried about 500+whp on stock d-series sleeves, but then again I would still be a little worried.

i dont know man. to me i dont build my car to beat other honda's i could really care less. i would much rather get the respect from beating a fast v8 or domestic. and they could give two shits if your car is D or B its still a honda to them. my old all motor crx ran 12.60's should have seen the looks on there faces when i told them it was all motor.

Yeah the V8 guys are more impressed that I have a full interior coupe instead of a gutted hatch. They probably don't care about what motor I have, but the honda guys I meet at the track are pretty impressed by the stock sohc. Plus I have a few DOHC rivalries up north I wouldn't mind racing. ;)

like someone else said your handicapping yourself with a D. Plus you have more tuning ability cause you got another cam to work with.

If you stay D your only handicapping yourself if your goal is to build a fast car. But than again if you want to prove a point than stay D. I will admit if you stayed with the D it would be cooler, but I only say that becuase its your money not mine. ;)

listen to this nignog.

Replacement parts for d-series engines are always going to be cheaper.

Keep your tranny, keep most of your setup and just add a nice piston/rod combo, some head work, and a nice turbo. Doesn't get any cheaper than that.

I don't think it will be that simple for my goals. I could just get a bigger turbo and rods/pistons with a little headwork (cams, springs, retainers) and hit 300whp and 11's no problem, but I want more than that.
