I am like the hardcore SOHC for life guy lol, so if I went DOHC I don't know if I could ever forgive myself. I talked with Jeff who has done 2 SOHC buildt motors and he said not to ---- around and go B-series, then you have hotrex's and stevemode's failed attempts at a SOHC build. I think I would like the challenge more if I stuck with my SOHC and I just think it would be more badass to have the original motor that came in the car still in there. Plus I love the look on people's faces when they find out I have a D-series motor, specially when I smoke their DOHC. ;D

So what do you guys think?

I used to feel this way, its cool to be the underdog but in reality who gives a ----? In the long run your going to be able to go faster for cheaper than a D. So in the end it doesn't matter what engine your using, all that matters is the times your running.

If you stay D your only handicapping yourself if your goal is to build a fast car. But than again if you want to prove a point than stay D. I will admit if you stayed with the D it would be cooler, but I only say that becuase its your money not mine. ;)

This is another very good point I have considered. Once I hit my goals then what? I would have way more potential with a B-series motor if I wanted to go faster, and people always do. :)

If I do end up swapping I am defintely going with a hatch, that should save me another 300lbs. I still have a little time left before I make any big decisions. Parting my current car out will be the first step.

Id find a CX/VX some super light hatch and go built D with it.You need what like 450-500whp in a light hatch to run 10's?Sounds doable with the right turbo.

Yeah it's still running. I am pretty suprised considering I use my rev limiter for full throttle launches and full throttle shifting lol. I left a dowel pin out when I changed my headgasket too haha. I was just getting the last head stud torqued down when I looked over on my toolbox and thought that probably should have been put back. I got one in there I think. :)

Pat, honestly think about it. the only reason you really want to stay d series is for a pat on the back (no pun intended) who gives a ----. go b series make more power have more fun and with a shitload of reliablitly. and not have to worry about blowing headgaskets left and right (d series have a serious probablem with that, ask zex man.. he has blown a few himself!)
