I have management, I just didnt use it right.

I wasnt pulling ANY timing and was running "fine" But then when I leaned it out, I must have needed to pull some timing because the extra fuel was covering for me. So I suspect.

You werent pulling ANY timing? Christ man I pull like about 10 degrees for 14psi and I believe that is risky. I did this because I was told it was needed for sure. Most pull 1 to 1.5 per psi.

BUT you made pretty insane power without pulling any, maybe Ill tap it down a notch and see what I can do. I have my ewg and cutout installed now. Just gota keep an eye on those afr's. What do you think a good afr will be if I am pulling only a little timing. Im at mid 12's now and it seems happy.

I was trying to keep the AFRs below 11. But since the AEM may be a piece of ----, I don't know what I was 100%.

Heres my slips.

both impressive. the 14sec one I spun both 1st and 2nd all the way to redline. My 1/8 trap speeds were only 81-84 mph! I gained 25+ in the last 1/8th!

And the motors out!

Sorry to hear that, but you're the bright sort and will learn from your mistakes.

An overly rich mixture will slow down burn and cause misfires which can cover for too much timing... for a little while, anyway. An engine is most likely to detonate whenever the cylinder is packed fullest, which is at torque peak, and given how your twincharged setup brings in an assload of boost super early I'll bet you need more than the normal singlecharged peaky-up-top 4cyl timing retard, at least for the midrange. Let me guess, all the upper halves of your rod bearings are marred badly, and one of them welded itself to the crank and you stuffed that rod out the block?

I linked you to the det-cans, yes? Those will shoot you in the right direction when v2.0 hits the streets.

PS - your track is a joke, they aren't showing any 60', 330', 1/8th breakdowns on those printouts.

The track?

First time it was open this year, so all the equipment wasnt running to start with, and the condensation was so bad the meters didnt work correct half the time.

About your guess.....

Nope, all I lost was one, maybe two, pistons. Drove it home 15 miles no less. Smoked like a ************. Had to have the windows down. Subaru motors only lose rods when overrevved. I just eat pistons. Rebuild will cost me $78 for headgaskets, $25 for misc gaskets, $20 for a used piston, and $60 for some new rings (have to buy a set).

But I AM BUYING meth injection setup. Tuning or not, bandaid or not, better to be safe than a repeat.

why not buy some forged pistons, wouldnt it be cheaper and alot easier in the long run

/\ yes, but I am a cheap short term bastard, and also I like proving maximum outputs out of dissed ----.

I have a motor in parts sitting around that is larger and stronger, but I have to spend some time putting it together.

Well, that sucks, hopefully they'll have everything working correctly by the time you go back out there. If your 1/8th and 1/4 traps are that big a difference you are really freight training on the top end which is unheard of for a AWD... unless you're too low geared or having a BIG problem with wheelspin down low.

So you toast some internal ---- in a small displacement motor making 300+ whp/wtq, and you aren't going back with new bearings? Sometimes you can get away with that. Anyway, post up carnage pics I'm curious as to what went wrong.

Regardless, nasty car. I wish we had Scooby guys like you where I live.
