NY has some gay handgun laws. I live 1/2 mile from the county line. When i turn 21 im applying for my pistol permit. In tioga county its like a month and you got your permit in the mail, if i lived a mile down the road in broome county, they wait until the very last possible day they can, then pass it to the next stage and it takes like a year to get. My dad has his concealed and carry permit, so i just have him pick up any pistols i want, hes normally down for anything as long as he gets to have some fun with it too. And for the AK , M14/Mini debate , lock each one down in a bench and look at the groups they shoot at 300 yards, you need a refrigerator box for the AK, and a cereal box for the mini-14. But as with anything else, everyone has there preferences, i like knowing i built the AK i shoot and it works flawlessly, may not be refined as the SOCOM proven m14, but its a whole lotta fun to watch 40 rounds shred something in 5 seconds. Oh and don't ever try to shoot the 54R's for the dragunov outta a standard AK, BIG mistake after a couple mags.

they fit in both of my 10 round mags,but not my 40's, but also when i say that i mean you cannot use them in a dragunov parts kit on a receiver made from a flat, it was a giant 650$ waste of time/kick in the *****. I personally dont know how to harden the flats properly to get them to stand up to the 54r rounds, i just burn the parts in DOT3 brake fluid ~700 degrees F. The holes in the flat for the front trunnion get elongated and the barrel gets all sloppy. Im sure if i were to fork out the 150$ buck for an FFA required receiver for the dragunov itd be fine, but id rather spend 20$ on a flat so i learned my lesson trying to make the "cool" sniper ak variant...

No 54R is going to fit into a 39 barrel. The neck is way too small and the bolt wouldn't even close all the way.
