To prove exactly that point

Nor has any religious sons-a-bitch, but at least governments have provided such things as clean drinking water, equal opportunity education, minimum wage, and sewer systems. Not trying to put down your creed, I'm just demonstrating how flawed governments created by man have effected more good in this world than any religious belief or organised religion.

So you're telling me that governments around the world have had a better effect on humankind than basic morale structure given to us by religion such as not murdering people and such?

LOL. No, son, there are plenty of contradictions.

Do you read the bible? Or do you make blanket statements based on what you hear from others?

To cleave to the flock, adhere to a consensus morality, for approval, for security is easy. When everyone around you tells you that you're doing right, when it's all you hear and all you let yourself think, it's easy to believe. To have to confront yourself one on one, alone, and try to grow as a person is real ------- hard. There's a reason why most of the Saints in various religions were hermits, or spent time in seclusion; they had to walk their own path to become something worth being.

If you think it's easy to be a Witness and try to uphold strong moral standard while the rest of the world calls you a cult and makes fun of your way of life, I invite you to try it.

Say, have you ever tried mushrooms?

can't say that I have

I think I can sum up my views best to you by saying that I think God wants us to be secular humanists.

Yes, I have read the bible cover to cover three times. I can't say I got as much out of it as I got out of a basic applied logic text, and thinking about the sorts of relationships I want to have with the people around me vs the ones I have had. Judging from the peace and tranquility in my heart, and the relationships I've had with people in my life of late, I'm on the right path.

BTW, eat a small dose of mushrooms with a close friend in a quiet setting, preferrably nature, and just kick back and relax. It is quite rewarding, and only resembles a recreational drug when used as such.

No, I'm not religious. I do believe in God, but my perception of what God is and God's intent is skewed more by a physics textbook than the bible. God's creation is infinitely ordered by a supremely rational mind. Everything around us is God's hobby, passion, fascination. What do you turn to, to learn more about what created you, and it's intent, than the world around you?

Yeah that's called territory, you do what you can- there's no set quota really. But it's something that was commanded by Jehovah to do, so we do it.

I myself have a tough time with it, but I still do it as much as I can.

As a side note: not that I'm the best about not using profanity or whatnot. But some people on here need to realize that when every third word they use is a curse word, that others might think their intelligence to be somewhat on the low side. I know that's what I think, merely because I pride myself on having a large vocabulary and don't need filler words to express myself.

never knew there were so many religious ***** on hmt haha.

you all need to read autobiography of a yogi, by paramahanda yogananda. you'll see everything else is just bullshit (imo ofcourse).
buddhist monks / yogis are the only ones who can actually show some kind of proof to me that there is a higher being.
the only way one sees god is through meditation, and takes the average person a million years to become enlightened.

Dalai Lama's biography is a good read too. Do you know how they found the current one?
well. when the past one died, he is reincarnated, and there is a group of monks that go out and find the next one, well they heard
of a new born baby that was just born, and there were crows circleing his house which brought it attention. THe monks went to check him out. (i think there was a simpsons or king of the hill episode on this.) well they have a whole bunch of items that belonged to the past dalai lama, and the kid identified them. THEN, they go into his home/palace/ whatev. and the kid points over to a box, and says "my teeth my teeth", and sure enough his teeth were in that box. i tell shitty stories so read his bio.

thats not made up storys, sorry for hatin on all your beliefs but im not buyin all this other ----. yeh i have no "faith" soRry. but i'm just not buyin it. Jesus in my opinion wasn't gods son. he was a great yogi.
THERE HAVE BEEN YOGIS IN THIS CENTURY THAT CAN PERFORM MIRACLES LIKE JESUS TURNING WATER INTO WINE AND ELEVATION.

I'm glad to hear that, it's rare that you'll find someone who has put in the time to do so. However let me put this scenario in front of you. Say you have a textbook in advanced calculus in front of you, are you going to understand it just by reading through it? No, but rather you must study it and read supporting documents that explain what you're reading. If not you're going to miss a lot of important content throughout.
