I broke a belt in my 93 ex coasting down a hill in neutral, the guy who fixed it said there was no damage to the valves, ran like a champ. My luck must've run out after that because it was stolen a short time later...

the wife drove the 90 si and the timing belt broke, but she shut off the car instantly.
I replaced the timing belt and it's run perfect since.
advice: change the belt before the 200,000 mile mark. almost have 250k now.

Re: got a 93 integra broke t belt
ya took the valve cover off today and it was just hanging in there, snapped with a few missing teeth on the belt.. lookin at the cam gears should they be even? because one is stright up and down if you look at the cross spokes of the cam gear and the other is slightly turned..
also could the previous owner having just changed the distributor, could he have messed somthing up like the timing causeing a misfire to break the weak belt or somthin'? i dont know ---- really about this stuff, i just fix what i can when i have to and slap turbos on ----.. but my friend who dont know ---- either changed his distr. ona tercel the motor when up in flames and shot a rod out like 2 days later . basicly should i check it out and make sure it was done right?could both be coinsidence i guess. otherwise im just gona slap a new belt on and see what happens, if its f'ed up im gona try and find a used good condition head i guess

Re: got a 93 integra broke t belt
In my 90 integra (b18a) i was slowing down coming into town from 45-25 and the bearing in my dizzy seized, and made the timing belt slip a few knotches, I turned it off and saw that the dist cap was cracked, so I put a new one on on the spot and started it up. It ran but barely (and i mean it drove like SHIIIIIT), drove it home (about 1/2 mile) to realize the intake cam had slipped almolst a quarter of a turn! I was amazed it still ran. new dizzy and realign t-belt & timing and she's ready to rock.....then i found $20.
put a new one on and try, why not.
