broke the timing belt on my accord

Default broke the timing belt on my accord

i was onmy way to work yesterday and nthe car just stops i coats off to the side of the road at first i thought outaa gas butgot gas put it in and nothing so me and a friend and my gramps pop the valve cover off and broken timing belt i was wondeing if this could of done any damage to the motor at all if soit isnt a prob becuz iplannned on a rebuild any way

i'd just pull the head. the timing belt and valve cover is already off, just unbolt the ex mani and the head bolts.

Man, doesn't anybody speak english anymore? So let me get this straight...you broke your timing belt while you were driving? Or your grampa broke it? If the car was running and the belt broke, your valves in the head are fucked.

9 times out of 10 they are. I thought i got lucky once a few years ago when my timing belt snapped. I put a new one on and it seemed like it was ok, idle was a little bit rougher. Ended up rebuilding the motor about 8 months later and turned out i bent 2 exhaust valves and ended up blow-torching holes in the sides of the valves. You might get lucky if you're really broke and it'll still run, just won't run like it did originally.

I have dealt with a few broke t blets in my day. Everytime there was atleast 2 bent valves. ONly way is pull the head

sorry Ronnie, odd's are the valve's did get a bit mangled. but at least you picked up that other motor to start building off of Jay
