block guard issues...

it's a d15. actually, the rod bolts are useless. he has rods, but the are the wrong ones. he wants 600, but im thinking $500. everything is brand new, just needs rods. the guy just bought an h22, and left the turbo thing. he also had a really crappy turbo that didnt really make good power.

also, i checked the block guard today, and it already was drilled out for more flow. the guard was pressed in. why would i weld it, i figure pressing it in would be enough. plus, im not trying to break 400 horses. 300-350 is enough for a crx to me.

ya u do if the rods / pistons are different weights from each other that will throw all the balancing off of the crank.

You're going to pay for a D15 block? Why would you do that? The first strike is having a blockguard previously installed. When you say it is "pressed in" do you mean it is so tight that it can't be pulled out? Like they hammered it in? That's not going to work well with the cylinders. Where in the coolant passage is the blockguard? It should be below deck level.

I would stay away from that block. Has it been ran yet? Who installed the bearings? Be careful.
