you run it lean during part throttle which most people are at during a highway cruise and you get some mpg. blundar did this for me in my turbo d and i was getting 45 mpg hwy avg when i wasn't beating the ---- out of it.

Yep, it's the same base head casting as the other D16Y.

I'm expecting the quench pads to help pull off the 12.5:1 CR on 87 octane, just like mid 13s with a quench pad GSR (vs domed piston/B16 head failure) is doable on 92-93 octane. As well as another try on a better reverse engineered code base (eCtune). I know I am pushing against the limit here, I have some Mr. Gasket decompression plates if the 12.5:1 but doesn't work, I can lower it to 11.4:1 no problem, but I full well intend to give it a try.

According to wikipedia it is slightly better to be a geek than a nerd, but neither definition seems to fit me.
No, trust me, you are definitely a nerd. I am a geek, meaning I dress somewhat cooler by geek standards, but am still regarded as a total dweeb by the majority of the populace.

It doesn't.

The difference between Fred and I is that while neither of us remotely care, I am somewhat aware of it.

The trouble here is that you don't catch nerds/geeks being the guy jumping off the top of the flash motor yacht the company xmas party is being held on and getting toasted and partying it up with multiple kegs at their house and a half a dozen stoners spotting in the kitchen etc. It was me jumping and throwing such parties and doing burnouts and and and and. I may enjoy tech, but I enjoy doing burnouts more. I have three modes of dress :
  • overalls/bare foot
  • suit/tie
  • hoody/jeans/bare foot

I prefer 1 and 3 but do 2 very well when I have to...

As I already stated, as a nerd, you are unaware that you are a nerd.
