Well, did a light street tune tonight before the VSS cable popped out and I parked the car in disgust.
I have super mild pingies below 1500 rpms, WOT, with 87 octane. I also have some quick pings under tip in when out of VTEC which I've mostly smoothed away by playing with TPS tip in retard settings. I am going to get P2P with my ignition maps so I can get another ~10 degrees retard out of the maps which should take care of the affair, ---- you Rass you know jack ----. If this engine didn't have less quench than stock I guarantee it'd not need to be fucked with.
Car feels decent on the street, pulls alright to 7K. I didn't notice much different by way of gearing, but I suppose the shorter gearing is offset by making power past 5500 rpms so the total package feels "the same" only somewhat faster. 5th gear nets 45 mph at 2000 rpms, need to throw that on a gear calc and compare to stock.
Dyno soon.

How high are you revving it? I suspect the y5 head can handle a bit more abuse than a y8 with its roller rockers.
Are you still thinking of getting a custom cam grind? I'm interested in what specs you're most interested in changing on it.

Crower trashed amkrew's y5 camshaft twice even after way to much time explaining everything/spec shets etc. Its now a door jam.

Re: JD's assault on a 50+ mpg daily driver.
question of the day.
which gas gives better gas mileage. Is 93 worth the extra money to squeeze out some of the timing available and thus better mpg since you are doing your tune yourself or should you just stick with 87 and save 30 cents a gallon. I'm curious to see what everyone has to say.
