it looks like i am going to have to take it apart and have someone weld up the holes from the inside. somehow it is leaking from the bolt holes for the front torque mount. someone tried to weld it up from the outside, but it didnt work. i am guessing it came from a wrecked car or something

It's not octane that matters. Octane is just resistance to detonation, the available amount of power per gallon isn't considerably different between grades of pump. For a vehicle that will probably make 120-125 whp (my beater) there's no sense in having to run 89, 92/93, etc regardless of compression. To me it's $/mile that matters, and I will run E85 if that is where I get the best bang for my buck.

What was he trying to get from the setup?

I'd just lock the VTEC assembly and have the exhaust and VTEC lobes ground to a different profile. I may still do so for performance reasons, but as far as the pingies go I centered my distributor and added timing to the part throttle area of the map. I can now obtain up to -18 degrees (18 degrees ATDC) range even if the "maps" still only go to -6 as the lowest value. Somewhere around -9 the pinging stopped and I have it set to -11.50 to be safe.

Once you get it set up and driveable, I'm damn interested in some mileage logs.

Bug amkrew he was really deep into getting that cylinder head to work most of that head. He ended up making solid power/mpg on it. Not sure how crower fucked it up cant remember it was a couple years back just remember him being uber bummed/pissed.

LOL. Well, given the fried *** IAT I have that reads 8-22 degrees F, I know why my old lean burn setup was only getting 40 on a cruise aka what stock B7 Civics get. I might be able to get some pretty good gains. I don't think I fucked myself with the .702 5th and 4.25 FD like I thought I might have for a minute (too lazy to hit a gear calc up, needed to get the car running so ------- around more was out of the question) but I'll switch to a .694 HF at some point and drop a hundred or two rpms from my cruise speed.

I just dropped $700 on some ---- for my racecar today, I really don't know if I'll be able to afford a full tank of gas until next month. It was one of those deals that was too good to pass up, but you almost regret because you can barely afford it.

Oh, yeah, the problem is the two bolt holes in the corners on the IM side of the head. They are shrouded and the washers would have to be from somewhere other than Lowes if you want ones that would clear the head as it shrouds both of those holes.

I ended up getting another D16Y short bolt, and everything worked out fine.

wouldnt you want to stay with 87 octane to reach your mpg? but if you can get e85 on the cheat to get your $ a mile lesser than pump per mile.. but i would think they would be very close.. its just nice to fill up on 20 odd dollars. with e85.

i bought a welder.. and now i have no cash.. i know what you mean.. i dont regret it though. whatd you buy for the race car?

removing your windshield wipers and filling your tires a lil past the max recommended psi will help with your mpg.
