In fact in 1945 another experiment report was issued that used an actual engine as a test bed instead of a single cylinder test engine, NACA MR No. E5E18 . This experimental set up would be very similar to doing water injection post compressor and pre intercooler (done right). Seeing that the experiment you cited showed no significant drop in IATs with the same wet thermometer problem shows that this isn't much of a problem after all. Also once the thermometer was wet an increase in coolant added wouldn't increase cooling unless it was in a linear manner and test data shows its not linear.
good work mate, i just got my laptop back from repair today, and i was wondering where this thread had gone. your post explains it pretty well though, JD is letting it sink into the distance to reduce his embarrassment level to a minimum ;-)

why, having difficulty swallowing the truth here?

its ok for a "well respected long standing member and staff member" to be wrong and be allowed to let it slide and not be exposed.

if he'd been a little more open and less of a ****** in the first place i wouldnt be winding him up now.

the twit has my name in his title ffs. how totally lame.

he needs to get over himself, and this thread is a big step towards that.

whos brian?

anyway, i'm ok, i just want jd to say his piece. if nothing else, to rebut that should be quite entertaining and creative :-)

he bumped it after a week of silence last time to take a dig at me... whats the diff?

looks to me like he has his tail between his legs. and thats cool. if he was man enough though, he would have posted an apology or response of some sort to that guys post sometime in the last two weeks. just trying to see exactly how much of a -----/hard man he is.

bd, relax ;-)

Okay,

I think we can let this thread die. The fact that he hasn't posted some derogatory tirade shows he might have learned something. There is no reason to rub JD's nose in it again.

What the hell does that matter?

The question is why was there such a big debate over this in the first place, it's not that hard to figure out this setup for a real world environment. If you take the CFM and divide it by 60 and the average (Delta)T in the charge pipe you can index that by the boiling point of water, though change of state is a "spontaneous" reaction, at the pressure level you're running at (+14.7 for absolute, fred ) and assess the temperature differential necessary to completely vaporize the water mass that the injector is flowing.
