Not yet. I finally found somewhere to work on it. I have to wait till the snow melts so I can tow it over there and start on it. I HOPE to have it running by the time christmas break is over. You know how those things go though.

I was born in Buffalo, NY I know all about how some snow can set ---- back. I have some respect for the people of the UP of michigan though, Buffalo can't touch that ----.

Wish I could get my project moving, Moving right now isnt helping matters, burning up all my Christmas bonus and cash from the family. Was really looking forward to throwing a grand or 2 at my MR2 and the Wife's 'Stang, but it isn't happening. That and its getting cold here in GA, other than up at my work, I haven't anywhere to really work on the cars. Hopefully going to have a little something at the new place to work on my stuff, Landlord os a friend of mine and really dosent care what I do. So, I'll be making me a nice little garage I can take down when I move out, and pour a 10x15 or 20 slab of concrete to work on. Slab will stay, but it'll pay for itself in making ---- easier to work on.

I hear you. There isn't that much snow here. We got 5". Its 1 deg F right now though. Maybe I'm a ----- to some of you northern folks, but to me it sucks. The car is sitting at my friends house on the curb. I had to drop the transfer case to get the oilpan off. The transfer case is sitting on the ground. i have to get it put back up to tow it. I really don't feel like laying in the snow trying to put one up. I've done it before in my dorm parking lot on my old 1g GSX and it sucked. It wasn't this cold either.

Like you I'm broke at the moment too.

I'm in GA right now, supposed to be 22 in the morning here, and the heater quit the other day, bad times. no snow here. Been living in the south for about 6 years now, so Cold is now like below 60, not below 35 like it used to be.

I live in ND. It hasn't been above 0 for 2 weeks. Im good until about 10 above. I really am getting tires of the cold weather.
On a happier note I did get some fab work done to install my Garrett VGT into my 626. Gotta upgrade to MS2Extra, install bigger injectors and get a slim fan or 2....and wait for the weather to warm up so I can actually tune at WOT. Roads are icy as ---- right now.

Put some chains on the bitch and man up! :-) I know for a fact that chains will happily take going sideways with 200hp on ski roads, and you won't make all that much more than that with an f2t ;-) :-p :-)

Is that the 6.0 turbo? How's it working? I have one and will be installing it on my MR2 before too long.

First, chains cost money and I can still get around just fine. Second, I'm shooting for 300whp. If the engine blows...well, ---- it. I have a spare with a spun bearing. Between the 2 of them I have enough good parts to made 1 good engine for a few hundred bucks.

Well, the real goal that day was removing the stock turbo that I had on temporarily while my t3/t4 was being rebuilt. So at the end of the day, the t3/t4 ended up back on the car. I just stuck the 6.0l turbo in the engine bay and made a turbine inlet, downpipe and oil drain. As far as 'working' I assume you mean the VGT actuation. I have not soted that out yet, but my hopes are that the boost controller in MS2Extra code will be able to control it....We will see I guess. It will be a few months I am sure before the VGT turbo project comes back around.

What were your plans for controlling it? Unlike these holset turbos, the garrett is just a simple PWM solenoid. I measured the duty cycle at a commanded 50% on a Ford truck to be 3.3kHz.

Do you think you could post pictures of the turbo? And do you have any way of measuring the compressor and turbine wheels accurately?

I remember a thread on NASIOC a guy had one on his subaru. Said he couldn't hold the boost below something like 22psi without the external gate. Unfortunately when I hunted down the thread a while back, he had edited all the information out of the posts.
