Sounds like the turbo is twice as big as I need. I like.

Well I've took the step into technology. I just bought two of these on ebay.

No I wish I was that big of a baller or had the money to afford a powertain to hold both, one is for a friend when he finally gets an evo. He's been waiting for it to come in out of customs since June.

Mine will be going on my GVR4, I had a s362 in a bullseye housing when I tore it down almost 2 years ago. I ended up running into a worn out thrust at the same time I changed to a PTT dual disk and the turbo so I just screamed ground up and ripped the car apart in one day. So which leaves me with a collection of parts and a jackstand baller status. Hoping to get her done in the spring.
With this addition I'm thinking 2.1 destroker so I can turn the rpms that this housing deserves. I already have the clutch and a butchured crank with pauter rods and the header is almost finished with stainless weldbends, Really all I need to address is my front IC and pipes and the intake with the laminova intercoolers and my bearing issues, I have 7 bolt rods and plan on finding pistons to keep those rods centered on the 6 bolt crank. I've already searched out bearings with thrust and the only 45mm cranks I've found is a ducati which is roller bearings but the od is to large and the mazda diesels in europe and can't find info on those so a rod centering piston is the last resort....Why because I have them and there light weight.

So I ask a question to aero and the other owners, Since I've never physical handled one of these is the compressor housing interchangeable with a HX anything else that would point out center without a bend? The Galant VR4's intercooler pipes normally go from turbo to drivers side through the rad support across and then to the intake. I really don't want to start cutting up and re doing a cover. I guess I could do a dual pass front mount if it comes down to it. But things are already going to be tight with the extra radiator for the laminovas.

Anyway I'll keep posts coming on progress with this. Things will be slow on my end because I work for myself and am always behind, I have a small shop in my garage with a small cnc mill and other toys. My buddy has already started research on controlling this electronically with either the factory ecu or a collection of computer bits and pieces (its good to know people). And he's in tight with a waterjet place so the flanges are already considered done.

I don't know if I should thank you guys or scream, looks to be a good 6 months of research posted on here and I don't have 6 months to read. I'll check this thread from time to time for progress reports but if anyone has any question or progress reports email or go over to galantvr4.org ...same name over there. Curtis

I got your email from before have started replying several times then get cut off every time. I hope to start getting some work done to get this running again when christmas break gets here. I think I found a friend with a shop who will let me work on it there.

As far as the comressor housing. I also picked up a HE431V for use on one of my dad's pieces of farm machinery. It had a standard facing outlet and the compressor has identical measurments and is held to the center section with a V band like the 351ve. I can't say it will fit 100% but it would definitely be worth looking into.

The HX housings wont fit because they are held on with a snap ring.

The 431 is more rare, but I'm sure you could pick up a housing from holset.

Thanks aero when it gets here I'll run it down to nashville and see if Jeff at Turbo Auto has any of those in stock and there's a truck junkyard up in KY about 50 miles from here that have all the large frame stuff laying around might get lucky. I did see one place that said they don't sell a rebuild kit. I would suppose there the same bearings as any other but you never know. I also found out today from one of the sellers I bought from that if your going to use the electronics don't take it off because the gears and stepping motors are calibrated. Now I thought about a extended tip schwitzer wheel in these bad boys but with 67lbs a minute I don't think it needs it. The s362 I had flowed like 72 I saw on one site and 65 on the other site so not sure but at 24 to 26 lbs of boost it cycled all 4 tires and changed lanes on a 3rd to 2nd down shift stomp. I never got it tuned due to the thrust problem and clutch not staying in adjustment so no dyno numbers here and the new owner hasn't tuned his talon yet but has already destroyed a act2600 first time into boost and found that cheap IC's get split in half with a grown *** man turbos.

Hopefully this weekend I'll have time to research the electronics more but I was thinking while cleaning up leaves today with even an electronic set-up you would want provisions for a certain driving situations boost level to operate on the street and seperate on track and also for normal driving. Because as all of you 4g63 guys know you can't lug these around like a 5 liter mustang. Normal in town driving is in the 3 to 4K range and I don't want to be following grandma in a 35 zone and when she slows to turn off in an intersection and I give it 20% throttle, end up putting my car up the tail end of a 76 caprice. Then again I don't want to be at the track on the stutter box and launch at 35 psi either. The PTT dual disks are animals and find the weak points of the drivetrain rather quickly so what ever I come up with needs to have some logical control about it. I know the galants have a reed switch speed sensor in the instrument cluster so the same maybe said for the dsm's as well.

I don't expect anyone to figure out the vgt system any time soon, since there is a very small amount of people even bothering.. i'm just going to use an actuator on the housing for now, or i'll just open it up to ~12cm^2 and leave it

Aero,

If your actuators signal comes from CAN bus communication, is there a possibilty of using MS to trun it? I havent looked into the capabilities of CAN and MS, but I have only seen it here and there in megamaual documentation. Just a thought....

I think I'm going to upgrade to MSExtra and try to use the boost control mod to run mine.

I remember seeing a picture of a car (it may have been a crx) years ago with a hole in the hood and the turbo mounted outside the hood like an older muscle car with a big ------- blower. I think it was in Sport Compact Car.
