This is amazing. I've been planning this swap for awhile now, and was pointed to this thread when I announced what my plans were. As you can imagine, I was pretty disappointed to find that I wasn't actually the first to attempt this craziness, but it's also inspiring to know that I'm not just insane. I'm planning to use an MX-5 rear end instead of the S-14, and I'll probably end up taking an MX-5 front end as well (simply because the suspension geometry is set up for RWD already, and the suspension components should be lighter because they're not reinforced for engine torque). Once I have a CRX shell, I'd love to share notes thus far, especially on the dimensions of the engine and whether or not your hood will clear it. I definitely want to keep a stock-ish exterior appearance and not have to go with a huge cowl on the hood, but I also want to avoid putting the engine so low that it's scraping the ground. I'm also curious as to what your plans for wiring are. Will you use the stock ecu? Megasquirt? Keep the stock CRX body wiring harness and frankenstein it in there?

What are your plans for chassis reinforcement? Do you have a cage figured out? I've been thinking about that quite a bit, and the layout of the cage really should be different for a RWD car as opposed to a FWD car. I have tons of concerns and a few possible solutions worth bouncing around.

Also, I just want more updates. This is such a cool project (that's why I wanted to do it, too) and I love how thorough you're going with it (I'd like to say that I'll do this as complete as you are, but it's more likely that I'll redneck quite a bit more than you're doing). I totally understand being busy with work, but at least appease us with some more pictures!

yeah but the vq30 is basicly a destroked vq37 so it is way more rev happy but with decent torque

also i will try to find some pics of a friends build, he took a 93 celica and threw in a olds toronado 400ci v8 (and fwd with like 260hp and 410ft-lbs) and it looked pretty cherry except for the fact the frontend of the toronado was like 6 inches wider than the celica so he had to build huge fender flairs to make the tires not stick out completely i was kewl to that thing would rip
