well, i started filling some holes in the engine bay to smooth it out, but that got boring quick, so i figured i'd try and see how the engine is going to fit. to my surprise, it fit really well. the hood clearance issue isn't really high on the concern list, but the steering rack is definitely going to be a challenge. time to start fabbing up some mounts.

lots of room up front:

firewall clearance:


master cylinder clearance:


there is about 1/2" to 3/4" hood clearance at the front of the valve cover:



the shifter location is exactly where the stock shifter is, just quite a bit higher:



ground clearance looks pretty acceptable, the tranny is actually about even with the lower rails on the unibody:
