I'm in the middle of organizing everything right now, and I'm going to sit on it for about a day yet as I need to lay hands on a Y8 distributor before I'm ready to say some of the things that I'd like to. I'm going to make a savvy guess as to the nature of the P2P ignition table, disclose best timing values, mention some Y8 timing peccadillos, and address the subject Y8 oilling problems. I want to be very thorough, because some of the guys in the Y8 thread on PGMFI need their noses rubbed in how to apply redneck common sense as well as stfu n00b. Only SOHC_MShue, bignig, and you said anything worth reading in that 9 page crapfest - I used your ignition maps from the .bin you posted at one point, thanks for that.
The long and the short of it is that I got a peak 212 whp and 178 wtq revving to 6800-7000 rpms off of 10 psi, timing in the single digit range on the high cam. The low cam likes a little more timing. FYI, the first dyno run had the most timing (13 degrees high cam) and puked coolant into the catchcan. As I pulled timing under boost, it never puked out coolant again, and coolant temps (on a heatsoaked engine!) started going down a few degrees... while ambient temps went up 5 deg F.
It was one hell of a weekend, I really got my head into Steve's car. There was LOTS more in it, but we were limited by stock MAP sensor, and the cam was still 1-1.5 deg off. I'm planning to head back down next month and knock 325+ out of it.
