do you have a rom you could post and how would i set the timing if i leave my timing stock and just do it in uber. all i have got so far is to change my idle portion where it was 16* and change it to 21.75.. could i just go over the whole map and add till the idle gets to 21.75 would this make timing right since you need it to go to 21.75?

i understand the problems with the y8 and timing but if you have say an adjustable cam gear can you eliminate these problems by adjusting the gear back to account for the teeth being off

ille, how does throwing the cam out of time to get the distributor to synch up when centered help us? Do you also shoot yourself in the foot to get rid of ingrown toenails?

so can i use the stock p28 map and adjust my distributor till i have 12* at idle and will the rest of my map be good for my ignition? what i had was my distributor at 12 with obd2 then i imported p28 and went over the idle part where it was 16.5 and put 21.75 and left the rest the same. it ran shitty and i think i burnt my valves or something cuz i smell something wierd near the valve cover and i got a cel driving in boost. i cant get my datalogging to work so i havent got my wideband in yet. please help me i really need help

I think you hit the nail on the head by saying this is a minimum timing map. I never thought of that untill you brought it up. I wish we had some more knowledge of the OBD2 workings.

JD, think HARD about the physics of a engine..........

The crank turns twice for every cam rotation
so therefore the cam turns ar 1/2 crank speed.

So if the cam gear has 37 teeth, the crank gear would have 18.5 gear, I've never seen a gear with a half a tooth

38/19 unless it is a weird ZC, then 40/20

Next time, don't count teeth while drunk, you either miss one or count one twice (personal exp.)

I even went so far as to mark every tenth tooth with a sharpee marker, and ended up with three marks and seven teeth left over. My attention span is ----, but I can usually count to ten (or seven) without ------- up.

Usually.

FYI, what do you mean a wierd ZC? Those are B-series tooth counts, nukka. Trying to make power off of a small bore is what's wierd. Speaking of big bore, do you want to follow Bisi with me, and go DIY F2B? If you have access to an AC TIG it's not particularly hard, and I'll give you a set of B axles + int shaft next time I'm up in Cincy.
