i think a better way to say it, is a larger displacement motor will get better mpg than a smaller forced induction motor with the same power level. or a higher rpm slightly lower displacement engine

thats pretty much true with NA small displacement high revving engines. turbo small, high output engines can still get 30+mpg because the power comes from the turbo. not from high compression high revs.

if you take jeffs H22 turbo project. that thing would blow my stangs doors off, and im sure it would get better mileage too. you know why? because it still had the stock head, IM, and cams.

if it had big cams, a more free flowing head and IM. it would hurt the mileage a bit im sure

now why is this true? the vette has a much larger motor, they both make relitivly the same horsepower.

gearing and torque.

and this is not knocking the ferrari at all, because high revving motors are great for racing. but if you want big power, and good mileage. a low revving torquey motor with tall gears is the way to go.

No the type-republican does help to ignore reality and see things the only the way you want to see them.

What I don't understand is why if the bigger the motor the better the gas mileage that all the V8's are on the worst gas mileage list while the small motors get the best: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bestworstEPAtrucks.htm Maybe the government got the list backwards.

because those are all small engines that make no power. we are not talking about communter cars. almost all 4 cylinder economy cars will get better mileage than any larger motor.

we're talking about making power, and going fast. not about commuter cars.

if you want to talk about commuter cars. honda crx's get some of the best mileage and are still peppy enough to drive around and keep up with traffic and of course its going to get better mileage than some v8 powered car or v6 sedan
