I dyno'd at 323whp at 17-18psi with t3/t4 50trim and .48AR. Hind-sight tells me that my 6" JRC intercooler was a significant restriction too.
But i think 400whp is right in line with the whp i made and the other guy with the vitars setup over in seattle, 354whp? JD, since this thread has already gone to ----, i guess it won't really matter if this is OT. I'm currently running alky injection with my Vitara setup, i notice that there is a huge seat-of-the-pants HP jump going from 11.5 to 11.8-12 A/F. I'm running just a hair over 25% 50/50 mix with my 450cc injectors. I have a suspicion that i could pull even more fuel, but i just want to bounce ideas as to what other people typically run for A/F, 12.3 range a/f? |

D16 knock limit on pump seems to be around 350 whp, a little less if you use a log manifold. Water injection will give you 10-15% more knock limit in 50% water:fuel ratios, racegas even more.

Sounds like you are cooling combustion reaction so it's burning slower = needs more ignition timing. When you lean out .3 AFR the ignition timing starts coming back in line. There's also a chance you have a little misfire action going on, are running richer than 11.5, and the misfires are leaning out what the wideband reads. I'm completely totally clueless what you mean by 25% 50/50 mix. Until I know what and how much you are running I can't really advise what you should do with any confidence, but YES people have leaned out big power cars almost to stoich and let water do all the cooling. Just keep in mind that if you make more power (heat) than your level of water injection can handle, the water dissassociates into H2 and O2 and your wideband readings reflect anything except reality - at those temps the H2 and O2 don't react with each other, but seek out Al and Fe aka consume your engine, which is why detonation leaves "pits" in the combustion chamber/piston... for every pound of gasoline consumed you get two pounds of water, and the overheated + dissassociated water chemically reacts and consumes the combustion chamber/piston in a very high energy explosive reaction. Irvin Glassman's "Combustion" gives good details on this, covers using powered metals and metal slurries as fuel. I think I've babbles semi-incoherently, thanks to five cups of coffee. Gimme more details, give me an idea what you're unclear on, and I'll crack at it later tonight when I've calmed down. |
