So at the point of H20 dissassociating, are you just pointing out an extreme case that i should be aware of, or is this a level easily bumped into. From what ive gathered it sounds like it must be a very extreme case?

One of the reasons i'm asking all this...

heres my track results.

60ft--------- 2.05
1/8ET------ 8.4
1/8mph--- 91.48
1/4ET------ 12.86
1/4mph---- 112.27

The 1/8mph is healthy but the trap is sucks... i just wondering if the top end is getting hosed down or what... from inside the car, as far as i can feel everything seems ok? This + the fact that there was a big power jump just by leaning it out .3-.4 a/f, is it possible up top is still not in its optimal timing/ a/f range?

Yes, very extreme. It's called detonation. Regardless of whether you have water injection or are just running gasoline, detonation is hand in hand with dissassociated water. You are *safer* with water injection, but some people start thinking bulletproof when they've made no attempt at figuring out how much water/alky they are injecting and get stupid with the boost controller, AFRs, or ignition timing. Just because you have permission to lean things out, turn up the boost, dial timing forward doesn't mean you shouldn't do it in very *small* steps and keep your eyes wide open.

The size of your nozzle is great, but what is the water pressure? Dose the water pressure ramp up as boost comes up, or does it stay the same and you get less water as it fights the manifold pressure? It's awesome to see you've sat down and done math on your car, but I'm still a few sticks shy of a load.

Yup, it is.

You're doing part water injection, and part fuel substitution. Figure 2 parts alky equals one part gasoline when you go to lean things out a bit, right now it's skewing your wideband's AFR readings... which direction is it skewing things? After you've figured that out, we move onto: 12.5% by volume water:fuel ratio, the cooling from which is slightly modified by alky's cooling properties. Tune your ignition timing accordingly; it might be time, after setting alky-corrected AFRs, for dyno time. Keep in mind when dynoing, that while water injection does it's deal by directly cooling the combustion chamber (it does not cool charge), a small bore D16 builds up heat. Normally you take one pull to heak soak the engine before you start paying attention to numbers (cold engines make more power), I'd do two and maybe three once you step up to more water/alky. It's not a lot of water injection @ 85% duty on your 450cc, but since you aren't at 85% for a lot of your boosting it's a pretty good dose of water/alky.

It might be an idea to do a second stage of water injection based off MAP/opamp switch or Hobbs switch. I don't like turning on a huge nozzle and having a fixed flow make water:fuel ratios run all over the place for a variety of rpms and loads.

Good stuff.

I'm using the Devil's Own alky kit. Its got the progressive controler, which starts spraying 15% duty @ 8psi and ramps up to full duty @ 14psi. Its got the sureflow pump. I have it start spraying kind of early b/c i noticed that the pump isn't as fast acting as i'd like on highway downshifts.

You know... the last time i dyno'd i actually ran out of injector on the dyno and hit A/Fs of high 13s @ 18psi. Thats the first time ive ever seen shiny specles on any spark plug, now i know what it looks like :P several compression tests since then, with weekend beatings, have shown good compression. If it were not for the alky/H20 i think my motor would have been toast for sure.

As far as figuring out what the H2O and alky is doing to my WB readings, i am still confused. Ive just been relying on WB readings. Can you point me in a direction as far as alky/water corrected A/Fs?

thanks a ton...

i have kind of been going about this on my own except for the little usefull information i was able to find on turbobuicks.com and srt4forums. Everyone seems to just preach, "just run 100% meth!"

Link to my build. http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1689570 (actually this was done on 2gph nozzle)

Also, would you agree that my ET slip is telling me that there is something going on up top?

WOW every time i come here, i go back to HT pissed off because you guys help me realize how much honda-tech sucks.

I just need to figure out how I can view this ---- from work and not worry about porn popping up randomly
