41 ain't bad, i sure would like to see if you will be able to sueeze 50 outta it tho. why was it again that you didn't go with the 3.25 final drive? i can't see the car not overcomming wind resistance in 5th.

also, what about the little things, putting a few extra pounds air pressure in your tires will save some. take the spare out if your traveling in town. it all adds up eventually

There's also driving slower than my normal 75-80 mph highway cruise, not caving to the temptation to do 10 over the limit everywhere I go, not doing 1-2 rippers every traffic light, etc.

I went with the 4.25 FD because I wanted to enjoy the ride.

Quit dicking around with how lean the car is and make a few minor changes to the aerodynamics of the car and see decent gains. Make the car look more like an Insight and you will see 50mpg. Otherwise I only see you getting 50mpg if you are a ----- about it sitting in the right lane doing 60mph thinking constantly about throttle position and if you could get any gayer.

If you go back and read between the lines I am likely getting 60 mpg highway as the car sits.

As far as aero work, compare/contrast the aerodynamics of an 89 DX and an 89 HF for me.
