Re: JD's assault on a 50+ mpg daily driver.
With 10.5:1, hx head, o2 ENABLED, jdm d15 bottom end, no aero mods, on 89oct., I pulled 46mpg(hwy) in my crx, went to LACR, ran a few 15.1's @ about 88mph, and then came back home to turbo it. After turbo, on 11 psi, it went 12.9@ 106mph, with NOTHING but the tune on the dsm's.
Joseph, you'll enjoy the lack of exhaust noise, due to the camshaft. It was so quiet, and had decent torque down low.
I'm not sure if there was a difference in camshafts between the vtec-e d15 and the vtec-e d16, specifically the index change that honda performed from the 92-95 generation to the 96-up generation single cam motors. The total lift numbers were identical @ .320" lift @ valve. Don't send the cam to crower to regrind, they're clueless...
Not to mention the d15 vs. the d16 deck height... It's a pretty complex setup, and if you find anything regarding the indexxing, please let me know.

Car also was a full weight si has well so with some weight reduction that 50 mpg mark might have been a possibility.

Re: JD's assault on a 50+ mpg daily driver.
My friend dan in Denver had a DA teg we put a GSR w/ skunk2 stage 1 cams in; turbo'd w/ a cast manifold and 57 trim t3/t04e on RC550-560 wahtever they were and healythy ys1 LS cable tranny. We took that car from Denver to Texas (1300mi round trip) and averaged 46mpg cruising (town was obviously worse) going down and back.
Mind you the car had 4 people (3 beefy guys and dan's gf) and my d16z6 w/ ZC trans in the back and all our luggage.
Weather was cold and altitude was between 3k-6500' cruising speed was usually in the 80-90 range.
I dont know how i got it to 46mpg but on the first leg of the trip i had my laptop hooked up and had the part throttle tuned to a rock stable 15.0-15.5 from 55-90mph.
I was pissed because I took my AW11 mr2 back with us and it only averaged about 44mpg on the return trip.
Now I have my 90si hatch w/ D16z6 and non-lsd ZC trans in, it barely does 35mpg highway spinning 3500@ 70 i know doesn't help at all.
Anyway best of luck JD! You should put a little turd turbo on there to help cruising MPG and give it more pep in traffic.

Re: JD's assault on a 50+ mpg daily driver.
the best i ever got out of my z6 turbo tuned by blundar was 44 mpg on the highway cruising home from cinci to akron.
granted it was a small *** turbo 14b @ 8 lbs.
i'd like to see this project pull through.

I have sold things before and if someone was unhappy with it returned there money. I'm sure JD knows if they can be used or not, if there no good then there no good, man up return money and move on

I plan on playing with cam gear settings on the dyno until I figure out wtf is going on with it. I'll retain the tunes from the different settings and compare the mpg I get, should be interesting as I an ASSuming biasing power down low will create an efficiency sweet spot BUT I might be way off on that call.
