Z06's are ---- piles. How are your cracked rotors doing? GM quality at its best again.
Here's hoping for an 11.0L V8 in next year's car that makes 550hp. Wow wouldn't that be SICK!!!!!!! It'd have sooooo much torque!!! Because torque actually matters omgomgomgmogmgozmomomgo!!!!

I searched for 15 minutes before I found the first relevant post or webpage or whatever. second response after dude posts about his cracked rotors:
The cracks look pretty typical for a cross-drilled rotor, my GT3 rotors are doing the same thing. I would suggest going to a slotted rotor rather than cross-drilled to avoid the issue in the future.

So are Porshe GT3's pieces of ---- too cause somebodys rotors failed once when auto-X'ing the ---- out of them?

its the 5.4l v8 down the way, and makes 290kw NA comes in the cobra R from 2000 up, or something like that.
as with almost all 4 valve designs, its got a broader power band than a 2 valve engine of the same displacement.

The problem with the ceramics is if you race them with the street pads they come with, you will kill the rotors in 10000 miles. And those things arent cheap.
Another problem that porsche doesnt tell you is that the ceramics will boil the brake fluid faster than the steel rotors will.
The only thing that makes the ceramics better on a gt3 is the diameter and less unsprung weight. Otherwise their damn near worthless. Ill take cross drilled steelies any day of the week.

Re: this is funny...
I was quoting a dude from that link that was saying that. My point was most "Performance" cars have issues like that but they are hardly something that makes the car worthless. saying that because a single digit percentage of Z06 Vettes have rotor issues it makes it a shitty car is really retarted.
I cant believe that comment came from a DSM owner? Im not too sure how to respond :1
(nice job on the custom names for the last few smileys. I just noticed that, laughed and promptly soiled myself.)

Re: this is funny...
all (steel) rotors will crack if flogged suitably hard. end of story.
i personally wouldnt bother using cross drilled or slotted again. if you just use good pads that dont gas like a bitch at low temps, then you dont need em.
mintex m1166 is what i use, its good ----, and works to 700C whatever that is in F...
bendix/axis ultimates are great street pads, but will crumble near the end of their life if pushed really hard. i never had them fade though.
truth is, race cars dont really use cross drilling. its a style thing. real hypo rotors use little whisked slots ... google image search...
i failed. basically lots of little C shapes scattered intelligently across them...

complete ignorance.
hes been beaten by too many GM cars.
chevy small block = most produced and widely used engine ever made. most prestigious racing platform, winning more races than anyother engine.
been used in cars, trucks, planes, boats, RVs, industrial equip, generators, and about a million other things.
yes torque doesn't matter, thats why you lose to everything
the new mustangs have that motor in them, except its 3 valve...
all the 4 valve motors are junk next to a LSx motor.
"as with almost all 4 valve designs, its got a broader power band than a 2 valve engine of the same displacement."
this line is irrelevant. a 5.0 ferrari motor has 500hp and a torque curve like a supra, a 5.0HO ford motor has 225hp and a much broader powerband and more torque, but less than half the hp...

once again, with all else held constant 4 valves are >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> much much much much better than 2 or 3.
you might be surprised to learn that 5 isnt as good as 4, but that the blacktop 5v/cyl head IS better than the 16v head. why? included valve angle, something that the ls7 has got right. they know their ----, but for packaging and weight and "we have so much capacity and are selling to a bunch of head in hole old bastards" reasons, they dont care and make em like that anyway.
at least ford is moving with the times.
ffs, say something worthwhile here will you.

speaking of how parts are doing,...hows your crankwalk? lets see what lasts longer, your bearings or the rotors on a Z06
