damn that sucks dude, really really sucks.
I was seriously considering buying this motor from steve (so I could accomplish what he couldn't ) but I sure am glad I'm poor and couldn't afford to buy it.
Is steve wrong for this, no. Is ssl2k wrong for bitching, no. Would I be pissed as ---- if someone sold me a built motor with melted pistions that I paid a grand for, ---- yeah. Would you be mad too, yeah.
If you were to sell it piece by piece I think you could get a good chunk of your money back.
Sorry to hear you misfortune though

ssl2k, sorry to hear that man. I hope you don't end up putting much more money into the D to get it running. Note to self, even experienced members' professional opinion on the condition of items they are selling is worth jack ----.

Here's the description on the add:
This was my OWN motor, so I did the break in and all of that as if it were mine. When I moved, I didn't have a way of getting my car to Mn. so I parted it out.
When I took this out it had a small amount of smoke at idle. I was in a rush to get it out of the car and do the moving thing, so I never compression tested. I'm thinking either the rings in one cylinder lined up, or one of them cracked. It also has 3 cracked valve cover bolts. (thanks bamboo ) Either way, I don't have a car for this motor, so $1000 is good for me. Located in Minnesota
This on top of the many conversations I had with Nathan about the motor, told him everything I knew about it, and without knowing for sure (because I never opened the motor)I guessed at what I thought could be wrong. I never said it is this, that, or something else.
From the pm I posted above, it's plain to see that neither of us knew what it was. Yes it sucks. I wish there was something I could do to help (depending on what he wants to do with it, I'm still willing to help him sort this out).
I said everything I thought I could say about it.
You guys can also pm jdmcrx1 (the first buyer that fell through) on the numerous phone calls, emails, and pm's that we had with each other trying to brainstorm what it could have been when he was going to buy it. Without taking anything apart, I could never tell anyone exactly what's going on with any motor. All I can do is guess. And Dr. Boost can vouche for the condition of the car running on the day we disassembled it. It wasn't at my house either. Dr Boost was standing there when I pulled up.
