BTW just want to say something about the maps posted. The 14b was said to 'own the garrett all over the board'. Here's a 'thousand words' for ya... ^-^

Sorry, your pic doesn't work...
It was pretty much meant as a statement for my engine's demands, not as a general rule of thumb. For my motor in particular the 14b would still be sitting around the 70% efficiency range, as compared to the 60-65% range on the t3. Granted it's not much of a difference, but the t3 would be a better match if I was looking to run under the 12 psi mark. Also since I'm going to run a larger exhaust housing, obviously the map would look different than the one posted. I've said it before, I'm not a big fan of waiting for boost, I like that almost instant throttle response.

Yup. A lot of people get all pissy-pants about spooling turbos to or "past" their advertised limits, but at ~34 psi on a SOHC I'm pretty sure that'd still be ~60% efficiency, and at that point an SC61 would be making more power than T04E. Spool time and great midrange power mean jack ---- at that level because it's - newsflash - a drag car. Pull a shitload of timing out of the lower rpms to get it to spool a little quicker in first, then put the timing where it needs to be in the operating range. For a turbo that size on a 1.6, you can manipulate spool time as much as 2000 rpms by timing retard, all at the expense of drivability, which doesn't matter on a drag car.

yea it was def a experience and we knew it wouldnt be that great but damn, i thought for sure at 20 psi it'b in the 300 range but on 18 psi i put down a whipty 246 (max horsepower was @ rev limit :6)

Eh, you sure you didn't have other issues? That's an awful big power drop from what it should be, even if down on power.

Sry for the interruption guys. You are much more experienced than me. I'm doing my first setup and I have a t3 60/63 off an old t-bird, don't know what trim, guessing 60trim?

I'm going to run 10psi out of the box. This is going to be on a stock LS in an Integra. But I wanted ~250-260whp. So I'm thinking I need at least 15psi out of that turbo then?

What are your thoughts on this turbo on the LS, I've heard great things about it matched to an LS, but I want you guys to make me feel more secure :P :-*

I don't mind running 15psi, I know that whp is what breaks motors, heck I might even have Chris tune for 20psi, and run 10-15 daily. Open dp at that :o My neighbors are going to kill me, and people at school are going to look at mie like I have problems...---- em. :y

It'll spool quick and have good power, I had one on an LS once myself. 10 psi by 3000-3200 rpms easy.

Your guesses about power are somewhere between right on the money and a little low, but if you keep expecting 250-ish at 15 psi you'll be pleased. I've seen (high reading Dynojet numbers) 330 whp out of one of those T3s, but you really have to crank the boost to get there. That's a small turbine to try to pass all that hot exhaust through, so go to someone who knows how to tune conservatively for a small turbo.

^^ Cool, thanks man. seems like it would be a great matchup for the street.

Tuning: Xenocron

I did alot of researching on the DSM sites earlier while I kept getting a server error when I tried to get on here (you nogs are killin' me...have to wait until at least 10pm my time on the weekends for it to even work :P)...found some info on the MHI 7cm^2 housings. Supposedly the a/r on them is around a .50, but with the rpm that the td05h turbines spin at, it actually flows more like a .63 housing. Just a little info I figured some nogs might find interesting.

On the current topic of Full Race, samson was talking about some vid where full-rape compared a log manifold compared to their super l337 top mount and it magically made 50 whp more at the same psi.... right. :1

difference was something to the tune of 250 whp vs 300.
