Default Couple questions about 14b

Do I have to plug the coolant lines if I am not using them? Will the original banjo bolts be sufficient or will they not screw in far enough?

Also, does that vacuum line fitting (I guess it's a vacuum line) on the wastegate thingy need to be hooked up?

Thanks.

plug the lines if your not using them ,but if you dont use them you need to run a turbo timer or risk burning the turbo up very quickly.yes hook that line up to vacuum or the wastegate wont open.

1 post yes, noob a long time ago...... why the coolant lines then? Im sure the engineers just did it to be ****,if you want a turbo to last run the coolant lines or a timer seriously think about it.

They did it because it's a very small turbo for a large 4 cylinder engine that was marketed as a daily driver car. The general public doesn't like to have to deal with things like "let the car sit at idle for 5-10 minutes in order to let the turbo cool down sufficiently". No, they want to get where they're going, shut the car off, and not have to deal with it.

Unless the turbo is ------- mint, ---- the lines. But if it's going to be used for any decent length of time, I suggest running the coolant lines, or getting a turbo timer, otherwise the turbo will eventually get coked up, and I don't mean higher than a kite coked up either.

As far as cooling or a turbo timer, I babysit it for a few minutes when I get where I am going (Homemade turbo timer); I was more worried about trash getting in there. But if it's no big deal I guess I won't worry about it unless you guys tell me it's necessary.

Also, I have been running my other 14b for about 6 months without that vacuum line hooked up and it seemed to be gating where it should have been, but I'll hook it up now I guess.
