You and me both!

I've been waiting on some o-rings for the spark plug tubes to arrive for two weeks now from our Auto Value store in Rollete, ND... they finally got here today, so I'll probably have my upper head bolted down this weekend.

Also, I started messing with my throttle body and cable the other day, too.. looks like I'll have to shorten the hell out of the cable and adapt the Crown Victoria end to it (using a 65mm TB from a 4.6L) - does anyone here know of a place that will build a throttle cable to a customer's specs? I've been having varied success with the JB Weld + chisel-crimp method to assemble a cable. So far, I've only been practicing on the parts cars' cables, and I really don't wanna screw up on the real deal as these cars aren't exactly the most common to find in a junkyard.

i was wondering when you would break out the jb weld... crimping the end on the cable doesnt hold up?

Nah, it held up a little too well.. I gave it a few good smacks with a hammer and chisel and now the cable won't slide into the sheath. :1

You and quite a few thousand others.
I see this type of project started and pictures posted alot, have yet to see one in 3-D actually running/driving. Looks like waaaayyy too much work for not much gain. Each his/her own though and good luck, hope it's powerful in the end (I'd hope for 400 hp if I did all that fabbing )

Yeah, well.. I've witnessed firsthand two 2300/16V engines running (both of which made over 400 whp)... and both of them seemed to be fabbed up a little more ghetto than this. There's not a doubt in my mind this thing will run and make decent power. And if it only makes 350hp, it ain't going to break my heart - I'm not trying to prove to the world that this head swap is all about producing insane peak power.

Dude, I'm not knocking ya so no need for the defensive position. It's your car and your time and I truely hope it works out for you.
On the 350 goal, that there, in my eyes is not enough of a reason to go through all the labor/fab time. You can cover that number with a ported iron head, header, turbo and tuning. I'm just all for the simple
Again, good luck and I hope it turns out TO YOUR SATISFACTION. Because in the grand scheme of things, that is all that really matters.

Ya, I re-read your reply after I had posted and caught a better vibe, but I didn't bother to go back and edit my post.

The fab work, to me, is "worth it" just to have something unique. I'm also interested to see what kind of powerband this thing has. But yeah.. it's great to open the hood on a vehicle and get confused looks. :P

Ahh, well.. the not-exactly-local street scene, that is. There are a few retardos :1 who hang out locally and don't exactly appreciate my company, so I tend to go down to St. Paul...
