Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

I'll attempt to help you on this one, and then everyone can correct my glaring mistakes afterwards, helping all of us learn and everyone laugh at me.

but I'm guessing to start with the pm6 stable rom on the turboedit homepage, as it is known to be a conservative tune. it also has a progressive ignition retard for added safety. if you jump onto pgmfi.org you will most likely find many other tunes that you may prefer. if you want, you could use the fuel map from a b18a (pr4) and the ignition map from your pm6, retard that statically, and you'd be set...

that's how I understand it anyway.

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

how exactly do you burn a rom, you solder the zif onto the ecu and attach something to the zif and attach the other end to the rom burner and place the new chip in the burner?

what do you do with the new chip? do you have to remove the origional chip and replace it with an erasable one?
:-X

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

You open a BIN in TurboEdit...make any changes and save.

You opening up the chip burning software...load the BIN file into the 'buffer' (where the data is temporarily stored). You put a blank chip in the chip burner following the correct orientation it should be placed in and upload the buffer to the chip (upload or burn the data to the chip)

After it is done burning...you take the chip out of the burner and you put it into the ECU where the old chip used to be. Most people have already desoldered the old chip and have soldered in a ZIF socket in its place. The chip goes in the soldered in ZIF socket in the correct orientation.

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

Maybe someone can explain for me:

What is the advantage/difference in the dual boost map? I thought all of turboedit used only one boost map. Can you explain at which point the ecu uses these two maps?

TurboEF9 04-11-2004 01:55 AM

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

The terminology is a bit muddled..

It's a Dual Map, Boost ROM. Not a Dual Boost Map ROM.

Basically, there are two sets of full sized maps (1 Vac Ign, 1 Vac Fuel, 1 Boost Ign, 1 Boost Fuel).

MikeJ-2009 04-11-2004 02:31 AM

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

So basically there is an ignition map and a fuel map for vac, and one of both for boost as well?

(my terminology is always muddled when it comes to this stuff) ;)

Oh, another one.
I looked at the map you sent me for my ecu, and I couldn't figure out where to find the rev limiter/launch info screen. Just wanted to remember what they were set at. :P (yeah, I know. I'm stupid 8))

I believe you go to "FILE" then "PROPERTIES" and it should all be there, unless I am truely retarded and don't know ----, which is very possible. :-\

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

would anyone be able to burn me a basemap turbo edit chip.
i just need a smooth fuel and timing curve for boost (and if you can, i need to remove the speed governor on my computer.)

i have a DOHC ZC and JDM ZC ecu, 450cc injectors, .42/.48 intercooled turbo.

i plan on for now, just installing a generic chip that i can fine tune on a wideband with my safc.
but i need a chip that is as close as possible to a smooth fuel and timing curve so that i just need to fine tune it to get results. im just trying to stop detonating with my afc hack bs.

if anyone can burn me a startup chip with thoes stats, pm me or reach me at turbo__dan@hotmail.com

look on the turboedit website, I think surfer posted some maps of his zc running 7.5psi dyno tuned.

i dont have a burner, but i was hoping to get a premade chip before hand so i could use it for the time being until i find a reliable burner and laptop to do datalogging.
i was hoping someone could just burn a chip and send me

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

I'll send one to you for a small fee, all helps to pay for the £175 i spent on the ------ dyno for that bin

Jason can we integrate Base Maps for a few common applications in the next release of TE?

I'll make the base maps if you need me to...lets talk.

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

i watched that TE vid, and has the bug with the jitter transition into boost been fixed yet?

Chris Harris 05-06-2004 06:08 PM

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

Yes the boost code has been fixed...its much better now.

http://www.pgmfi.org/phorum/download.../pm6_ng5-5.bin

Thats the latest version but I have a feeling a newer version of the ROM will be released soon with some more fixes and 'tweaks'

TurboEF9 05-06-2004 06:59 PM

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

Yes, there will be a new ROM released compatible with the new TurboEDIT.

And since the previous ROMs are so different (some have quarky bugs we'd rather not have people using) Dave and I are incermenting the version status of the ROM.

This means, all previous ROMs (minus bone stock Honda ROMS) will cease to be supported. That means, anyone with a tune they need to import into the new version, please e-mail it to me at jparker@driftkids.com, and I'll format it for the new version that will be coming out so there is no downtime.

...with that, please make sure this ROM is "worth" the trouble of me manually fixing. Dyno'd ROMs, WBO2 tuned ROMs only.. ..or just copy and paste them into the new TE yourself.

...as for the release date.. Dave and I are still working out just a couple of little changes in the UI, so it shouldn't be too much longer... ARE YOU ALL READY?! :D

thats really good news

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

does this mean that you can fix my featured map that is on turboedit.org to work correctly with the new boost bin ng5 of ng5.5 whatever it is now?

TurboEF9 05-10-2004 12:04 PM

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

Probably not. :(

..what I mean was that I'm going to reformat the already saved tunes so that they can be reimported into the new ROM.

As of rhe Try10 release... old versions of the boost ROM will be unsupported. This is because due to bug fixes, and code revisions, previous code will do nothing but cause headaches if it works.

Try10 will start new ROM support, and give us a point at which things are fresh, and can be clearly supported.

Everyone should reburn, and reimport thier maps.

surfer 05-10-2004 12:15 PM

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

so my maps will need to be re tuned in the boost area?

TurboEF9 05-10-2004 01:53 PM

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

Ya.. sorry about that. :(

surfer 05-10-2004 04:55 PM

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

Not to worry, the maps on the stable rom are better to drive with than the old 5/8ths routine, i guess i'll have to locate me a Wideband and and an RTP board and go for the street tuning route, or maybe get RTP on the rollers

Great news, it was about time :). Can we expect to have another TE class soon?

Chris Harris 05-17-2004 09:31 PM

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0.10

Yes...not this weekend but probably then next.

I'm shooting for May 30th @ 7pm EST.

There will be a thread made about it...

All you mofos that have learned something in the last two classes better get out there and start using the new version.

I had a really good experience where I traded rides with a friend I had talked to for a while online but hadnt met until yesterday. We have the same car...and both have boosted b18's...he is on the Hack and I am of course running TE. He was very impressed with the difference of the smoothness of my ride in/out of boost compared to the jerky nature of the hack. I was thrilled!

So as of right now, all of the .exp maps weve exported will have to be converted so that they will be compatible with the new version correct?

I just tryed to open the Z**NE converted ZC maps and it imported them but the description was all weird, are these maps correct or not?

They didn't clear the original maps. Yes, they should be fine.

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0.11

okay time for another nobb question...I was just wondering if I chip my PM6 to run my n/a B18 would any of these ways be better than the other to run the car?(or even possible if that)

1. run the PR4 stock bin in the PM6??
or
2.(if this is even possible)...convert NG26 into an n/a rom and import the PR4 stock values into that(might not work because the injector sizing in NG26 cannot be reduced back down to stock 240cc right?)
or
should I just stop being a punk, take the bus to work for two days and just have my buddy chip the PR4 in my car?

TurboEF9 05-26-2004 01:28 PM

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0.11

You can run PR4 maps in the NG26 code on your PM6.

Open a STOCK-PR4 bin, export the maps, and import them into the NG26. IT will automatically put the injector size in.

Then just change NG26 from a dual map, to a single map ROM for easier editing.

All done.

That is _exactly_ how I run it on my setup.
