will the datalogger ever support wbo2?

TurboEF9 11-07-2003 10:17 AM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

Well, I want it to support regular O2 first. That is still one of the planned features... lots of things need to be worked out, and will be worked out as soon as I finish my car. I've been coding without a car this whole time.. ;D

is there a bin for a b16 w/boost anywhere?

Jason the new 1.29 loads fine. File open or file advanced open runtime error 360 Object already open

Just a FYI

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

D'oh!

..sigh, I have been neglecting 1.29 in favor of the 2.0 rewrite. Does it work at all? 1.29 has become such a patchwork, it's hard to fix one thing because something else breaks. 2.0 should not be like this.

[EDIT]
I have since posted the original 1.29 source with a modofied datalogger routine. Hopefully this will "unfix" all of the "fixes" that I have tried to implement! HAHAH! IT's labeled 1.29-Repost on the website.. Please uninstall your current verison of TE and reinstall this.. Thanks everyone..

2.0 will be out soon.. I promise! :D

Will V2.0 support a 2 bar and 3 bar map sensor?
I'm planning on running more than 12 psi boost.

TurboEF9 11-21-2003 07:59 AM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

It can if you want it to...

I think someone else asked me about that. I'll have to come up with a scaling routine for them but Im sure I cn come up with something.

As for the website, ya, I'm fighting with my ISP.. It shoudl be back up sometime around Tuesday, sorry for the inconvience.

Does Xtensive's Beta-boost rom on your site work??
Would you recommend using it or just use the normal boost rom?

I wouldn't recommend it for a "production" car.. but if you're testing out new stuff, give her a rip. It might need a bit of tuning done, however. Reports are it runs *very* rich.

thanks man
I think I'll just start with the normal boost bin file.

yeah i tried the beta boost but it almost fouled my plugs out the first few seconds. haven't messed wiht it anymore.

hahaha lol turbowagonman.
What's the boost cut feature in Turboedit?? what does it do?

TurboEF9 12-05-2003 07:54 PM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

The boost cut keeps your engine from exploding due to overboosting. Wastegate or other failure can cause extreme boost and engine damage.

Note: This is a feature of the new PGMFI Boost ROM supported by TurboEDIT.

Semnos 12-06-2003 10:59 AM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

oh like that...
So does the PGMFI BOOst rom also work for OBD1 P28?
Cause I couldn't find any boost rom for the Z6

I just read up on this sounds good.

I have a PR3 running a B17 about to be turbo, i wanna run like 10psi, do you have any prewritten for that kinda set up? i want to learn this thing really good. Got a manual? lol Btw where would you get a harness to put this to a computer

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

daniel, you use TE to program a chip and you put the chip in your ecu and it does this stuff.

jason, how does the data logging work, where do I hook it up. and does the target a/f ratio thing work? I downloaded TE last night and was checking it out.

TurboEF9 12-12-2003 06:19 PM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

The datalogger has to be redesigned, but yes, it will work. There is a new serial interrupt routine written by a "l3st4rd" at PGMFI that lets you poll all memory locations in the 8051. Sooooo in less techno-geek language, we'll be able to do whatever we want with the datalogging, including change values while we're driving (RTP)!!

Thanks PGMFI.. we lub ewe!

where do I plug in to get the information from my ecu to my computer?

TurboEF9 12-13-2003 10:58 PM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

You need a TTL -> RS232 converter and a serial cable.

Here are pics of my install (http://www.driftkids.com/pics/jason/ecu)

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

thanks.

why do the values for the stock pr3 only go to 7400? is there a way to make them go higher?

TurboEF9 12-15-2003 11:04 AM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

They do go higher, I just never got around to changing the grid, sorry.

I just used the same tabel creation routine for the second set of tables as I did the first only changing the values.. that should be fixed in 2.0..

Honda16hb 12-15-2003 11:36 AM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

in the future could the rpm points be user entered? is there something within the pm6 that prevents it from reving past 7.4?

TurboEF9 12-15-2003 12:38 PM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

They can't be user entered.

As far as being adjustable, that probably won't happen either.

For a bit of good news, I think Blundar is working on something..

Honda16hb 12-15-2003 12:53 PM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

so the lack of adjustability is for idiot protection?

TurboEF9 12-15-2003 01:03 PM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

No it's a limitation in the math used in the interpolation routine.

PR3/PW0 use a different' routine to figure out which tables it's going to use, however, it's still the 15x17.

Due to 8-bit math limitation of the 8051 microcontroller (Highest calculating number being 0xFF or 255 in dec, which happends to be 15x17, make sense?) , a different routine would have to be written to either A) incorporate a 16-bit math routine, or use Dave's loopup table routine for RPM rather than boost.. and like I said, I think he's working on that.

Honda16hb 12-15-2003 05:41 PM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

ya, I get that so far. so with dave's rpm loopup would boost capability be lost? and with this loopup could the pm6 rev past 7.4?

TurboEF9 12-15-2003 05:43 PM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

1) I don't know, we'll have to see, but I think boost takes major priority to RPM scaling, so I would tend to lean toward no.

2) Yes.

Honda16hb 12-15-2003 07:13 PM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

is the 8051 microcontroller a piece of hardware or is it part of TE?

TurboEF9 12-16-2003 11:49 AM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

It's the "CPU" of your ECU.

Honda16hb 12-16-2003 05:38 PM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

thanks alot, someday I'll get all of this crap, but until then I'll have to go ask you. When do you expect to have your web site back up? I want to go check out your serial port install on your ecu.

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

<--- very excited to try out 2.0

Installed a PS9 on Dustins car tonight using TE. (NA version) Your Editor rocks Jason! ;D The ability to edit the multipliers came in very handy.
I used a 3bar along with his 450's and then manually edited the NA maps to reflect the voltage curve the 3bar provided. So far so good. 2000-3200 stumbles a bit between 10hg and 0, but boost transition is good. The goal was to get around the georgehack hiccups.

Any guesses as to what the scales are for the boosted tables on the new boost rom? Like does it start at 0hg and ramp up to 11psi? Is it linear?

turbohf 12-21-2003 04:43 AM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

works pretty well....but its being a bitch at 19inHg (when cruzing at say 70mph) its fine with your foot on the gas a bit, but take it off a nut hair it hits the retarded timing ---- and slows down fast...sorry if that doesnt make sence need some sleep...

Jason, like Dave said im using the PS9...and as i was suspecting code 19.. how do you fix that? besides adding an auto tranny :P

MikeJ-2009 12-21-2003 07:20 PM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

Wait, so I can boost higher with a 3bar and turbo edit? I'm so confused about this stuff, but I don't want to only boost 10psi on my built motor.

I'm still gonna send my ps9 to you. I just figure I'll get a better map from 2.0? WTF do I know? :-\

Honda16hb 12-22-2003 12:38 AM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

very little steve, very little.

I'm waiting on TE just because it gives me something to wait for. any luck with the site yet jason?

turbohf 12-22-2003 02:44 AM

Re:TurboEdit 1.29

no, im under the impression that Dave set it up with the 3bar so it would be easier for him to run boost cuz the boost code isnt fully worked out on the TE?? it will still only go to ~10psi cuz thats as far as the map goes (the resolution is too small)...

anyway *update* this thig is being ------ homo!!! on top of that annoyance with my cruzing speed ----, its hella gay at like 3.5k+ area and will buck like a ----------er. then just a minute ago on the way home it wont rev past 2K it its life depended on it in any gear (luckly its midnight and there is no one on the road). after running around with my head cut off for a minute i deside to shut the car off and see if it will start, then throw the Zdyne back in (still behind my seat), but it fires up fine and revs to 4k (where the launch contorl is set at) i drive for a little further down the road and realize it was probly throwing a code (its throwing a 19 all the time) i check and its throwing a code 3??? anyway i think this needs a little more work on it....
