Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

ok, so with regards to the romulator (before I go and buy a burner), what exactly are you running for your setup?

the romulator comes with basic software, do you have something that interfaces with it? did you write your own software? will turboedit at some point be able to interface with the romulator?

TurboEF9 01-28-2004 12:28 PM

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

I've written TurboEDIT to interface directly with the ROMulator. No additional software or hardware is required.

When you start a RTP session, you click Tools -> Real Time Programmer then it will look for your ROMulator (or check to see if your PGMFI board is connected, but this isn't a real option yet) and connect to it.

A small window called the RTP Monitor which will just let you see the communication between the RTP device and TurboEDIT. You can minimize this window if you want.

From there you just tune TurboEDIT as per usual. All changes are made seamlessly, and the ROMulator or RTP board is updated in real-time, and changes the cars attributes... in real time. No need to turn the car on and off, burn and reburn.

When you're done tuning, close the RTP Monitor window which will disconnect your RTP session. After that, save your ROM, burn it to a EEPROM and your real-time tune is now permanently stores and ready to pop into your car.

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

ok, I'm going to prepare myself for a verbal lashing here.

I want to start attempting to modify p28 or p06 code in turboedit. I have a bunch of stock bins, and none of them open in normal mode in turboedit.

what I'm asking for is any or all of the following:
1)point me to an effective guide for memory locations in roms. I used this one http://www.ef-honda.com/ben/locations.html and it didn't quite work for the obd1.
2)link me to an effective how-to on disassembling, editing, and assembling both obd0 and obd1 code. I know you want to tell me to read pgmfi.org but I literally spend hours looking through, getting lost, and coming out with three folders full of things I don't remember downloading.
(I will spend today reading 8052.com, but let me know anyway)
3)give me some sort of brain transplant that makes me know all of this so I don't have to bother anyone else and can finally start helping others.

main objective: download stock roms, modify them to accept boost code, open in turboedit and alter fuel/ignition etc

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

I have not, and won't, enabled OBD1 in TurboEDIT for "the public". It's entirely too much work to keep up with the ever changing code of two completely different generations. With that said, OBD1 support *is* in TurboEDIT2.0. If you ever stumble upon how to enable it (which I will not tell anyone, so no one e-mail me) you can use it just fine.

Now, to answer the question "why is it there but not enabled?", because I have local friends who use it, and thier demands are not too great on me. Getting e-mails from 100 people a month asking questions about TE is just too time consuming to add another generation, I'm sorry. Use Uberdata ( http://www.ecimulti.org/uberdata ). Blake's software owns your OBD1 tuning needs.

Now, warric, to explicitly address your points:
1) http://pgmfi.org/phorum/list.php?f=13 They're in there, you'll find them. (Hint: Look for excel ------sheet attachments. ;) )

2) http://pgmfi.org/phorum/read.php?f=41&i=82&t=71 (Doesn't get much more spoon fed than that.)

3) Paypal jparker@driftkids.com $12.95 + $10 flat rate shipping. :D

If any of your fuckheads try to get Jason working on OBD1 again I'll find you and ---- down your throat!!! Crome and Uberdata are both kick ass editors for OBD1. There is no need for Jason to be wasting his time with it.

Everyone using TurboEDIT,

PLEASE download TurboEDIT 2.0 Try9. There is a bug fix with the way you highlight the tables and use the region editing. While waiting for the file to download, please check the release notes on the same page as the download link.

Also, you might read over the main page of the website, as I updated a lot of the information with what is currently going on.

http://www.TurboEDIT.org ..thanks everyone.

When I figure out my brakes situation, I'll chip my PR4 and throw it in and see what's up for myself, and let everyone know.

I have a pr4 running a stock pm6 tune if that's what you're talking about? Seems to be fine to me.

Is there an FAQ somewhere for this program. I am pretty familiar with uberdata, but obd0 is new to me. If somebody could point me in the right direction that would be great.

Anyone have a basemap that will suit a boosted 0db0 b16a1? I heard that there were plans to use a pm6 ecu (I think) and make a b16a equivalent with it. any word on this?

Wow, I've been out of the picture for a while now, but it's good to see all of the work going on around here! I can't wait until I get out of school for the summer!

So let me get something straight... We won't need to install our own RS232 converter serial adapter now? We can use the XTNCS Pocket Romulator in place of the EPROM Chip?...

p.s. Looking forward to that video and 'how-to' Jason.

Chris Harris 02-14-2004 11:10 PM

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

You shoult still install the rs232 for datalogging purposes...

The ROMulator doesnt replace the chip...it mearly emulates it briefly while tuning. When you are done tuning you burn that 'tuned' BIN to an EEprom and place it in the ZIF socket.

Re:TurboEDIT Support (OBD0) - Current Verison: 2.0 Beta

Thanks for the info xenocron, I should have known.

I'm planning on either building up the A6, or dropping in a built ZC motor. Being in school and everything (the poor college kid) only allows me to afford building up my A6. Tuning it properly will be vital as I'll probably be boosting around 12-15 psi on the street.

I get all my parts together for the RS232 conversion and install it over spring break and play with that some.

http://www.ecucontrol.com/images/touching_fixed.JPG
So the RS232 Serial device is hooked to your ECU board by a jumper setup? This is what I found:

TX-|-> PIN 4 (RX)

RX-|-> PIN 2 (TX)

+5V-|-> PIN 3 (NOT USED IF USING USB ADAPTER)

GND-|-> PIN 1 (GND)

| PIN 5 NOT USED

Who is CURRENTLY using TE in combination with ANY ROM successfully now?

Please list the ROM version you are using and simple engine/turbo/combination specs.

We should somehow start a library of tunes...

Me im a b18a, using the PM7 Stable Dual Map Boost Rom in both a pr4 and a pm6...two different tunes.

8lbs of boost on a precision sc34

450 injectors...base timing retarded two degrees (although, not for much longer ;) )

i have 3 car running turboedit:

B18A1, 60/63 T3 @ 10-12psi, im running on a PS9 or PM6 (just put the PM6 in, CEL was annoying me)...the tune is a try21.bin (just the one i started ------ with) that has been HIGHLY modified ;) good for over 200hp/216tq in my car...

D15B2, MPFI Z6 intake manifold, LS throttle body, 450's....PR4 ECU, no ------ clue what tune (single map, no turbo...yet)...

SOHC ZC, 42/48 T3, no idea how much boost, running a PM6 ECU.....trying many things but the car isnt liking boost at all...

I have a library started on the website.

..e-mail me your name and .exp (make sure they are commented with engine type, injector size, boost/na, that sort of thing) and I'll post them there, with author credit.

Turbohf,

Im not totally sure but I think try21 had some issues that were fixed in the StableRom.

Also, the cell in the Pm6 can be fixed by using George's PM7 BIN...it will still blink 20 times for the ELD, but the cell light will be off.

Would you be willing to send me your b18a tune...i want to see how it comepares to mine?

For datalogging is Part # AD233AK the correct serial adapter to buy? Or is it a different one?

( from: http://www.compsys1.com/workbench/Be...ch_orders.html and http://www.compsys1.com/workbench/Be...lipic_pcb.html )

Also, is the following correct that MR_DR_PEP posted?

GND-|-> PIN 1 (GND)

I want to make sure I understand this pgmfi thing... and I'm way too scared to post there =).

the rtp board by blundar.. I connect that onto the ecu, and then how do I can control that?

I searched as much as I could on the pgmfi forum, but I can't find what to cut, where and everything. is there a base post that I can't find?

what advantages does this have over the romulator? what is the cheapest way to go about rtp?
