how else am i going to adapt a 4bbl to fit the stock intake? there is almost no aftermarket support, about as much as a b21a1.
i spent maybe $6 in flux wire, i had all the other stuff laying around for the intake. turbo, bov, and wg totaled 155 or 160. still at under $200 total investment, a total of $200 for build costs will get me running. all i need is to maybe get some plug wires, and plugs for sure.
well, i had it running somewhat. had a vac hole i didnt plug in the intake causing issues. i plug it, it starts up, chugs, dies. repeat 100x playing with timing/fuel for a good 30mins, then i go to start it again and it locks up. hydrolocked, flooded, whatever. or so i thought. i crank it no fuel/spark, i hear it goin thuk thuk thuk on something in the pan, and as usual, the infamous #5/6 rod bearing was ticking. well, i say ---- it, give it some ether, free crank it for a few spins, throw back on the fuel/spark, only to get it lock solid, backfire, then spun backwards, then fire another cyl and reverse the order. shook the whole truck. smoke all over the place too. total buk moment.
i pull plugs, crank it over, rag over each plug because i was blowing blue smoke for the last few revolutions. 1-5 were clean, 6 had oily looking ---- on it. so rod bearing, and a piston. i have no spares for either, and what its worth vs what itll cost to fix/run.. im cutting my losses now. $450 obo
