Default Overheating Issue

Ok..so about 2 weeks ago i drove from NJ to VA. Everything was fine until i hit some traffic on rt 29 in VA. I pulled over for a bit. Popped the hood the overflow tank was filled alll the way up almost overflowing. i continued through the trip and overheated the whole way...pulling over every now and then..when on the freeway/highway..the temp guage would go up and down..but then it stayed low for a while..then evetually the car ran hot again..had to keep pulling over. The water pump is fresh btw. A day later i drove up the street to walmart and was overheating again....realized i had no coolant in the radiator. filled it up..and about a day later after driving again the radiatoir was low again. i replaced my radiator cap 2 days ago but i still lose some coolant because i checked my radiator and the level was abit low. my next step to do is bleed the system and change the thermostat. i not overheating anymore but losing some coolant..but i see no leaks or anything...im thinking blown headgasket but.im hoping its not

any help is appreciated

Blown head gasket it is. After being out of coolant, and overheated, be sure to check for warpage of the block and get your head machined b/c I would bet it's at least a bit warped now.

I would changed the thermostat first just b/c it would suck if that was the problem, but chances are, that's not it.

Damn so how many times did it over heat on you, and how high did you let it go?
