Ok so I need to pull the ECU fuse and redo the compression test. I will try that. One question though. How come I have to pull the ECU fuse? Would it really make that much more of a difference? And yes the head and block were straight.

yes, the fuel and spark can mess up the readings or just flood your motor.. its just easier, plus you dont run the risk of burning up part of your ign system

The whole "cutting the HG" just seems a little weird though. I've used stock a6 gaskets before (shitty composites) as well as stock z6 gaskets and never had any problems with either of them. Sure you didn't put the hg on upside down? I've seen that bonehead move done more than a few times I'm also going to assume that since you said b7 dizzy, it's a d15b7 block. I'm almost positive that you need to run a different cam gear on those setups to obtain correct valve timing (Bone can clarify on this one). Stock z6 gear usually ends up either a little advanced or a little retarded, but never dead nuts, which could be why your readings are so low.

Ok guys, I went out today and tracked down a Z6 head gasket. It is a metal 3 layer gasket. Great quailty comparred to the ceramic POS one that I used on the motor before. So Im pretty sure this is going to help out the compression a good deal. I'll be back with updates and a new compression test with the ECU fuse unplugged...

OK, so I cleaned everything up REAL nice and put the new headgasket on and torqued it down tonight... I still have to plug everything up and set my timing. Can anyone tell me where to point the the TDC mark on the camshaft to set the timing on the cam? I have heard many places that you match it up to the mark on the back of the cover... but I have searched that cover up and down and can't find a freakin mark. Any help? possibly pics?? New update tomarrow!

For the cam gear, with the UP mark facing up, line up the 7 oclock mark on the gear to the 7 oclock mark on the plastic cover.

**UPDATE**

Ok guys, I got my Z6 dizzy today, and I finished putting all of it back together. New compression numbers...

1= 60
2= 50
3= 55
4= 130

I know my cam timing is off... I dont have the back timing cover to match up the TDC mark to make sure my timing is on. Can ANYONE PLEASE post a really clear/good pic of where I need to put the TDC mark too. Thank you!!

Also I still need to pick up the Z6 plug wires tomarrow. Then adjust the timing.. then HOPEFULLY it will start!

*** UPDATE ***

IT RUNS!!! I finally got it to run last night. ya my timing was WAY off and my valve lash was way to tight. I adjusted all of that and now it runs. It still doesn't run all that great because I gotta figure out why it dies when I come to a stop. I believe its just because my idle is to low. or because I have a vaccum leak somewhere. Im going to wire up VTEC today then check the CEL's and hopefully I can get it runnin great.
New compression test will be posted a little bit later today!
