well, i decided to take it back, didnt want to risk it. the ram was super cheap, 2 x 2gb sticks for $40 at the local computer outlet store. they didnt question me and i got my money back.

they are always available, so I will pick some up at a later time.

Yeah, my motherboard does a quick memtest at post, which might be why.

Either way, I don't think the ram is bad. The error message you were receiving was consistent with a Windows issue. Didn't you say you tried each stick individually and they were fine? You were getting the same error at the same point. Early signs of bad ram it'll randomly BSOD with random apps crashing once the OS tries to write to a bad sector.

comcast is supposed to allow me to DL at 15 Mbps too, but we all know how that works. advertised and reality are much different.

Little bit different.

Would be require at least a 120mbps connection from a cable company. It was downloaded on a box with 1gbps connection. Delicious for legal downloading.

Whatever your ISP advertises, multiply by 1000 and divide by 8 and that's the maximum speed you could possibly get (which you never will).

ie 15mbps x 1000 = 15000 / 8 = 1875 kB/s

Mine advertises 20mbps which should mean 2500 kB/s on the day hell froze over and everyone on the internet died except me and the location of the stars and planets were perfectly aligned, but I've only seen 2.0 mB/s which I also won't complain about.

I've probably mentioned it a few times in this thread, I know at least once, but Win7 is much better on resources, even as a beta.

I think Microsoft realizes that "netbooks" (weaker, cheaper, smaller laptops) are going to become popular the next few years and they would even have to keep distributing XP (now 7 years old), which would be embarrassing, or create a OS that's better with resources. They've had it running smoothly on a few 1gb ram netbooks leaving over 500mb free for apps.

i dont know what the ---- happened last night, but when i posted i was getting 750 kbs and went about my business then went to bed thinking nothing of it.


get home from work today and somehow it never completed the download last night, so i am currently trying to dl it again and for some reason its only at 100kbs
