Re: more vortex retardation
I have owned at least 6 vw's probably closer to 10. ALL have been diesel, I HATE vw's, but I love diesel, so since they were the most affordable diesel available that is what I had.
VW rarely originates anything, and typically if they do you don't want. VAG has had some interesting innovations, typically in motor sports and a few in drivetrain, but it rarely reach's the econo vw, and if it ever does, it is already well established on the market. |

BTW, the GTR's 90,000 mile factory service log book lists seven slots for when transmission assemlbies are replaced and the new trans' serial number. Awesome example, dude. Were they? It must not have been very impressive as I've never heard of it. Twin charging is meant for diesels that are built to handle that ----. Also, welcome to the literature I read to acquire most of my forced induction theory - non-VW diesel engineers of the teens and twenties. You mean the ones that have serious carbon build up problems because for every good idea VW has to colossally ---- up some required essential part of the design???? I am sixty miles from the Dow Corning plant that designed and made all the new diesel-compatible ceramic catalytic converters. Take a look at the big trucks they were designed for, THERE'S YOUR CLEAN DIESEL EMISSIONS. You didn't research any of the other ---- Jesus mentioned???? (disregard, my reply needed more question marks to keep up with your post) You mean start over front square one??? (don't disregard, I'm serious) No, they'd have their panties flamed off for not knowing the first ------- thing about about how an engine works. Big plenum short runner makes power, we've known this from when your dad was reading Hot Rod dreaming of buying his first car, and you do NOT ---- around with port *or runner* diameters unless you've changed valve sizes and/or are going for some serious big power and don't care that the engine is going to be gutless off boost or even at low boost. There's nothing new or innovative to be done in the automotive realm except for learning enough to actually know what the ---- you are talking about, and make setups/parts that don't have major engineering flaws like, um, most anything VW's made for a couple decades. Now, Flaco, this is the second post I've come across today where you've singled me out as being incorrect or wrong. I'm going to direct you towards my reply to you about what overhyped unreliable pieces of ---- Subarus are as a performance package - you need to shut the ---- up and listen when I speak about technical matters - because I can get really mean. If you need clarification or a detailed explanation as to why I say the things I do feel free to ask, but the overly emotional flamebait replies are getting a little old. Got that???????? god damn that a lot to respond to... I ain't getting butthurt so neither should you. I didn't read through all of your posts and decided to pick on you. I was reading through and saw that you had posted two posts that had misinformation so I commented on them. If you are going to be 'really mean' go ahead. If you are right then prove me wrong. I really don't care I am a ------- MBA I don't know everything about cars but I do know that saying that an entire automaker is unreliable is straight ignorant. twincharging- the 1.4fsi was a pretty clever design that was supercharged and turbocharged. Like all good ----, it was never released in the states. Please show me another passenger vehicle that was twin charged before this one.... clean diesels- Trucks aren't 'clean diesel's and heavy duty trucks, light duty trucks, and passenger vehicles all have different emissions standards and cars released in 2007 aren't 'clean' diesels. The new Jetta TDI is a clean diesel mostly because of the use of its UREA injection system. Dual Clutch Transmission- This is actually a technology leased from Borg Warner that is used in vw, audi, seat, skoda, and bugatti. They were still the first to market with a substantial amount of these... GTR- You wanna talk about overhyped and unreliable? Here you go. I did mention the fact that it the same technology (DSG) was used in this vehicle however made no comment as to anything else including the fact that the tranny costs $20,000 to replace. Here are more examples. M3 and Ferrari California |
Re: more vortex retardation
Wont the increased size of those runners mess with air velocity, and what about harmonic problems? Those runners are ------- massive.

M3 and Ferrari California So what if vw was the first to BUY a new transmission, Porsche was the first to use the technology in the 956 in the 80's...Not only that but Ferrari has been using an electrohydraulic shift transmission since 2000, which is the same idea just different implementation. Which brings us to the last point. The M3 and Ferrari California, both DO NOT use the same borg warner tranny, as found in the vw's and gtr, they are both electrohydraulic shift transmissions, as discussed earlier, however one is a Borg warner product the other is not. |
