W0rd, but it wouldn't compression test good with a cracked anything right? Car got towed home and Dad went to work: Perfect compression, Anti-freeze was tested/rated (something you can do to test it) to -40*. It wasn't -40*. Any other guesses? I'm a little low on oil too, so honestly my two guesses are a cracked sleeve (which I thought compression would die) or it's leaning towards valve seals. JP |
Re: Honestly, I Can't Explain It...
do a coolant system pressure check and a hydrocarbon leak test, use a smoker for any other leak ie... vacuum

Re: Honestly, I Can't Explain It...
Nothing cools better than straight water.
Antifreeze has a fuckton of surface tension, makes it hard to reach all the tiny nooks and crannies inside the cooling jacket, and can actually cause overheating once uncooled hotspots really get cooking. |

Re: Honestly, I Can't Explain It...
No, I am correct. Water cools far far better than antifreeze.
Putting salt in water is seeking out electrolysis, that's ------- stupid. |

Re: Honestly, I Can't Explain It...
The only way to avoid electrolysis that I know of in such a setup is a sacrificial anode. The last ones I saw were for old Alfas, everyone else apparently knows how to change their coolant periodically. :1
