not wanting to take the ball joint off. well i do now because the threads that the castle nut thing threads into are fucked

but yea.. that thing that the castle nut goes on wouldnt come out of the other thing so i can move the rotor thing out of the way so i can put the axle back in

so heh..

imma cut it with a hack saw tomorrow and take care of it...

now please go into more details about how to change the ball joint.. is it worth doing yourself or should i just take it to a shop?

are c clamps enough to press the ****** in or do i need a vise?
I changed one with a very cave man set of tools. To get it out of the knuckle I used like a 38mm socket...same one I used to get the axle nut off I believe but it's been awhile. Basically you put the socket around the joint and position the threaded part through the hole in the socket and beat the ---- out of the socket. When it comes to putting the new one in lube the ---- out of it with motor oil or whatever else and just pound it in.

That's probably too much for you to handle though, so just take the whole knuckle and lower control arm to a suspension shop and pay to have it done.

So wait, you didn't get the ball joint to separate from the lower control arm? Well If your going to replace them, just take the hacksaw/cutoff wheel and cut the castle nut and rod right off. No need in ------- around.

When I did mine, Whoever did them before WELDED the balljoint and castle nut to the LCA. I cut it off and and hit it with a disc grinder. Then I used a crowbar to pry the LCA away from the hub assembly.

Do you have a pickle fork? They're used to get the balljoint to separate from the LCA. If you think this part is tough wait till you try to press them out of the hub assembly. They are an awkward ------- piece to position in a press.

dude, a balljoint should not be this hard.

get a prybar in there putting force separating the lca from the knuckle, now beat the living **** out of the lca with a big hammer. it should pop

ive removed mine so many times, i can pull the castle nut off and just yank up on the rotor and it will pop loose. i bet its real safe to drive on

you have to pull the axles to get the trans out, which requires disassembling some of the suspension
