Re: BBKA is back! He swapped to a DOHC!
Seeing dyno plots on basic setups like this make me want to swap...

---- those cars have a sick powerband and big numbers on pump gas at low boost (about 15psi), plus 550-600whp isn't out of the question on those setups at 32psi with race gas. You can't do that with a D-series motor.

I think if your gonna stay stock internals you need to stick with the D. If you're gonna dump money in a full out build, you'll get alot more power out of the B. Just say $1500-2000 to play with, rods, pistons, cam and head work and whatever on the D you'll get maybe 300-350 hp. The same money, parts and effort on a B would be like 500-550. It just seems more practical to start with a foundation with higher potential.

Sounds like you already made up your mind. In the end all that matters is you have a fast car, who cares what motor you use. So if you want to impress random people on the internet stay D, if you want to go fast go B. I'd rather be known for having a car that never loses instead of that kid with the D-series thats "impressive"

How common is that though? How much money did it take to get to that point? Bottom line, B series is the cheapest way to go.

I just kinda wanted some opinions from the OG people here on HMT that know me. I know the easy route to reach my goals would be a B-series motor and if I wasn't so hardcore SOHC and anti-DOHC, I would swap in a second.
