d16z6, STOCK, crome, p28, walbro, 660ccm, K03 at 1.3bars. I made 3 runs to record my LM-1 data and after 3ird run some thing blew. I kicked it in neutral and car was at 1000rpm so i knew the engine is OK. My hose was weak, the engine can handle the boost. But this is a small turbo so it is the diference in the A/R compared to biger turbines. I am going on a t3/t4 and i will tune it on 0.5bar for daily drive and 1bar for racing.

Don't try to come back and say it was a joke, because it clearly wasn't.

"LMAO, no comment".. you totally PWNED JD! Wish I could think of kickass comebacks like that.

Noob.
since you guys seem to not understand what I mean, I'm gonna clear up some stuff

det cans are for people with loud exhaust, not me, because with those loud exhausts one can NOT listen to the engine and would miss a knock easily, which would be bad.

I run Apexi WS2 exhaust, which is prety quiet, and when I shut off my stereo, and close up my door windows, I can listed to the engine and make sure it runs fine.

gosh .... who said I'm reffering to fart cans ...

well, the car runs on 1 BAR at the moment, but I guess you don't need an update for that

.. and judge my tuning skills from that I've achieved

I'm done here

Det-cans have nothing to do with the exhaust you run. You are listening to the resonance of the block, not the exhaust. You can pick up the block starting to sing long before audible detonation sets in... which you'd know if you had the first clue.

Yeah, you turned up the boost a whole 2 psi. Impressive.

See you in six months.

You have to figure that Greedy turbo isn't all that big and going to start falling out of effecienty and pumping more hot air into the engine. I really wouldn't go that high with that little of a turbo. I heard someone say it before and I agree with whomever said it, small turbos blow motors due to dumping straight hot air into the motor.

P.S. JD (or anyone) can you link me to a det-can website, read-up, review, etc? I'm interested in this.

People really don't understand why pistons/rods fail do they? Piston/rods fail under high cylinder pressure situations(assuming you don't have lubrication problems or engine cooling problems). Normal combustion vs detonation, cylinder pressure skyrockets. So if you figure you are taking a part to a safety limit of about 3 under regular combustion, and you have detonation, you are probably pretty close to the failure zone. You can build these excessive blocks which have much higher factor of safety which means they can tolerate some detonation maybe, but still like J.D said, detonation kills engine due to crazy increases in cylinder pressure.

As for the rest of the bickering, Joey is right on target. Make a det can for $15. There is a writeup by HT and I'm pretty sure on here too. Stay away from detonation and your engine will survive as long as your oil pump doesn't take a ----.
