there is an air tight diaphram between the top nipple and bottom nipple. the bottom nipple is for boost the top one is left open. if you block the top nipple it takes more force to compress the spring and air in the wastegate

setup looks aight to me.
with that turbo and injector size, and compression ratio dont expect any miracles of dynamic powers of the gods.
it make a nice 250ish with a nice tune and quick spool.
top nip on the wastegate is for ebc, leave it open if you plan on using a mbc.
i always wanted a boosted ef sedan. ill give you one thumb up untile you get it done and tunned. and if that wastegate hits that intercooler, why not get a smaller one. you dont need to have a 700 hp intercooler for a sub 200 hp setup.

im just going to shorten the pipe that the wg welds onto, to pull it like a 1/2" in towards the manifold. forgot to mention that it also has that intake manifold from the a6 wheeze project on it.

----, even with 400 hp you dont need a barn door intercooler.

it was cheaper than the smaller one. and when i took the bolt off the wastegate it fit fine so no need to change it.

If it's rated to take a lot of heat, it might be fine. If it's not, yes it will melt.

Turbo project is looking pretty good.
