Hey man,

Just stumbled across your build. Great job so far! It'll be cool to have some single-stick turbo competition!!! We brought the "s00p3rturd" this year. 94 EX turbo coupe.

Not sure if you're looking for advice, but I'll just throw it out there:

Regarding the turbo, we used a Garrett from the Dodge 600 we ran last year. Once we sold some stuff off the car and crushed it, the turbo ended up being free. The intercooler and piping were sourced from eBay (tough to beat the price!) The only weak link was the crap manifold, which has already cracked, and will need some added bracing. We used a simple granger valve for boost control, an eBay "mystery" chip was our only source of fuel management, and some monster injectors we had laying around in the pile. @ roughly 15psi, we ran a 12.7 @ 109mph after the Challenge.

You may be surprised at how light you can get the car. We ended up at 1780lbs. w/o driver w/a half a tank of gas. I'm guessing the hatch would be lighter with the same amount of gutting. If you don't plan on driving the car on the street, yank the front windows and gut the hell out of the doors. You'll need a secure window net for the drags at this point. Yanking the bumper core supports also yields some big weight savings.

My suggestion would be not to skimp on tires. If you're planning on using those Road Racing slicks at the drags, I'd seriously recommend finding some used drag slicks instead. You'll find that side-walls are so stiff that you may as well be running on street tires. Plus they need a TON of heat to get even a little sticky. A pair of drag slicks with 5-10 passes goes for $100-$150 on craigslist around here, and will have a huge impact on your ET's.

Same goes for the auto-x. If you're not on decent tires, all the work you've done to make the car faster won't mean squat. Check your local region's autocross forums. Guys will be getting ready to go to nationals in the coming months, which means smokin' deals on R-Compounds. Also, it doesn't hurt to call Hoosier and see if they've got anything laying around. Right after they discontinued the R3S05's, we picked up a pair for the front @ $90/ea. shipped! The rears were crusty throw-aways from a fellow EP driver, and since the car is a little prone to understeer, they worked out perfectly. As someone else mentioned, Diamond racing wheels can be found really cheap. New ones can often be found on their website for $50-$60 each (usually returned wheels that didn't fit,) and the dirt track guys/autocrossers get rid of them every now and then.

Again, good luck! Come pound some beers with us in Gville. If you need me to be on the lookout for anything, PM me on the GRM forum (I'm 'poopshovel' there too.)

Now that someone bring this thread up:

Don't use that H1C, this turbo is broken. Why I know it? You sell it to me and the turbine hit the housing. There is so much oil on the side of the turbine that I couldnt see the metal color of it... Thanks for that great sell ::)

Now I saw DIE ESTI D'ONTARIEN!! :y

EDIT: Must be better like this lol
