Default Exhuast cut out

Ok so whats the general opinion on these. I saw one on egay with a cable or electric controls. I was thinking about it cause I don't want to run an open dp all the time but i don't have money for a full exhaust right now either so the turbo is gonn abe really restricted. So anyone have an opinion? I saw they were made of cast iron that would suck to weld onto a SS dp wouldn't it...Ok, thanks...Matt

the older style Mr.gasket kind that have around for ever are heavy cast iron, I really didn't understand how you would attach them either, but you can weld cast iron, its just a bitch. The electric ones are not so heavy but most of the ones I've seen cost about 300 bucks

I think they are a great idea and everytime I look under my car and see my 2.5 inch downpipe connect to my 2.25 exhaust I think about how much I want one. I"m too cheap to buy so I think im gona make one out of a old TB, lol.

I've seen one around here that's actuated by boost. So, once you hit a certain amount, it opens. Looks good, but it might just be a toy.

those things have shitty reviews.

its opened when it sees boost, but you want it open so that you can spool faster, so it kinda kills the point.

At work we installed the electric ones on a chevelle and they worked great on that application, don't remeber the price, I just remember playing with the switch macking the exhaust change notes.

These have an ok rep...but these things dont last long at all...thats just too much abuse for an electric motor to take.
