Second, it's a lot easier to clock the turbo off the car. Unbolt it from everything and do it on a work bench. You'll have to loosen the bolts up, then move the turbo out to allow more room for the bolts. Basically, just loosen them up as much as you can, then pull out on it, then loosen some more. You'll understand once you do it.
HELL YES

ok here is a better pic. some people on turbod16 said that the bolts dont have to come out and just have to be loosened? is this right? cuz i tried rotating it while the bolts are still in and it still wont budge.

and the issue about taking the turbo off is i think it will be easier to rotate when its mounted on the mani and engine because then i can use all my strength to rotating, and not just to holding it. there is plenty of room seeing as i have no ac or powersteering. but yea enough chit-chat, heres the pic:

thanx again for all the help. i dunno what i would do without you guys (well actually i do, id have to pay like $1200 to get it all installed)

so thanx for savin me $1200

the point in taking the turbo off is that your not going to be able to turn it by hand. you have to put it in a vise, and use a hammer to rotate the exhaust side until the drain is pointing straight down. you don't have to take the bolts all the way out either, just loosen them. there's write-ups and stickies for a reason

Making the line shorter will not help you. The wasteagate arm is just in the way too much if you leave the turbo clocked like that. It needs to be turned down.

I think that you already figured that out hopefully. Just use some liquid wrench and heat to take the bolts out. If you have them backed out a little, that is most of the battle won. Usually they just break the heads off.

persuade it with a mallet. Nothing too hard, just enough to get it to move. There is a lot of friction between the center and housing.

ive been tryin with a rubber head sledg hammer. no luck so far. ima give it a few more good whacks then call around to some shops and see how much they would charge me to just clock it.

You didn't have to take the bolts all the way off to clock the turbo... you just need to loosen them up a bit. LoL...

I would put the compressor cover back on there and go from there. It looks like the turbine bolts are loose enough and you should be able to break it loose. Did you try spraying some WD-40 around the bolts and letting it penetrate for a few mintues, then tapping it with a rubber mallet?

Don't pay a shop to clock the turbo for you. You will eventually get it, there is really nothing to it, the only thing that is keeping you back from clocking it is probably rust because the turbo is used.

I always clock the center section first, and then the compressor housing. So, put your compressor housing back on, tighten the bolts up a bit, and use it as a handle so you can clock the center of the turbo. Then, once the center is clocked so the oil inlet is verticle, loosen the bolts on the compressor and rotate it to where you need it, then tighten everything down and install the wastegate actuator.

Good luck, you will get it, just keep on trying!
