is there not a small locating dowel between the center section and the exhaust side? there was on my old teo4h i think. i had to just cut it off with a zip cut disc and then i could clock it anywhere i wanted.

I had a friend who zipped off the bolts he couldn't get with an angle grinder, then once everything was apart he spun the cut bolts out with vise grips. The problem come when putting things back together. He ended hunting down some studs and slipping the nut into place and slowly pulled the things together agian.

It would be easier if you took the turbo off the manifold, took the compressor housing off and put the center section in a Vise clamping down on the parts for the water, then you use the rubber mallet on the turbine housing rather then the center section.

And you absolutely cannot run a oil like setup vertically like that....I mean, think about it.

The comment about it not spinning freely is pretty normal, if you even so much as budged the center section or turbine housing it's not sitting straight anymore, don't try to turn it too much, wait till it's put back together properly.

Aaron's comments are also worth checking up, as if there's a dowel, no matter what you try and do it wil not budge.

I really hope you're using rubber instead of steel

Have you tried pulling out on it, rather than turning it where it is?

this is what someone said on turbod16:

don't you guys think an 90 degree elbow fitting -AN fitting (to replace his gold fitting in the first initial picture) would solve his problem easier and lessen the risk of damaging something hammering the ---- out of it. the only problem i see with not clocking the turbo downwards is the little amount of oil buildup in the center section of the turbo while the car is off. but then again wouldn't it be good for the bearings inside? my 2cents.
i was thinkin if i did put a 90 fitting, and used rubber hose instead, im pretty sure that would solve my problem would it not? if yeah, where is a place i can go get a fitting tomorrow morning and not have to order one over the internet and wait a week till it gets here.

let me know what you guys think.

make sure all bolts are loose before trying to clocking the turbo. If one bolt is not loosen. The turbo cannot be clocked. If you can not get to the bolt use a 13mm wrench. It makes things so much easier. Make sure the oil outlet is pointing down to the ground and oil inlet is facing up toward the sky. And the hose seem a bit too long. Try triming it down some. So everything is just perfect.

This is your best friend when it comes to clocking a turbo.

^ ummm....yeah....

im not mad or anything. i just wanna know if you read any of the posts after the first one. just curious.

i DO know that the oil drain (idealy) should be facing down (meaning the inlet will be facing up). i also know that if one bolt is not loosened the turbo wont clock. (that was just a given from the beginning). and yes, i have been using a 13mm wrench, not my hands.

haha, thanx tho man.

but what do you think about the idea above the post you just made with the 90 degree fitting instead of the gold insert, and just using some rubber hose from vatozone?

If you know (idealy) that the outlet suppose to be facing downward. Why didnt you do it? You dont need a rubber hose. You can use the SS hose you have now. That's what im using. Just trim it some more. Seems a bit too long. As long as there is no kink in the return line. You should be ok. The oil has to return smooth back to the oil pan. Ummmm yeah there's 48 post to your question. You think i will read all 48 post? No way. I'm just posting from out of my own experience.

Here look at this pix. as long as your oil return setup looks like this. You should have no problem.

^ yea like i said i understand that in an ideal setup the oil drain should be facing as downward as possible. BUT my question was, if you look at the very first pic again. if i were to put a 90 degree fitting in place of the gold insert. that would then cause the line to be straight down with no kinks, and i would either cut the ss braided hose i have now, or get some rubber hose and cut that short. do you kinda get waht im sayin?

the only problem would be the excess oil when the car is off. but a guy on turbod16, said that it wouldnt be too bad for the bearings inside anyways.

SOOO... again my question is if i put a 90 degree fitting in place of (not after, not before) but in place of the gold fitting, and use rubber hose, that would work would it not?
