Today i tore apart an cleaned up a 650 vacumm secondary card for a buddy who is in the process of tt a 351w in his 68 mustang. One of the people while at his party ,decided to dumped dirt an gravel down the throat of it.Anyway i needed a running engine with a square bore intake so i removed the 650dp from the turbo 283 an installed it an fired it up an no leakes so i wanted go try out the 283 on 7.1 comp.
Damn the thing wouldnt rev past 4000 held my foot to the floor she finnally hit 4500 LOL.No wonder i dont have no low end power till turbo boost at 2k.So i am now gonna swap out the big roller for a small solid lifter cam with a set of 305 heads boosting comp to 9.0 this should help.Just really showed how these turbos add power to these otherwise low power engines.
I like it I love it I want more of it
Let you all know how it does this week with the head an cam change.Gonna see if i can get a 1st place trophy this fri at the 1/8th mile drags.Got 3rd place last time out 2 weeks ago.Night all

I wish I could run 305 heads, bring my compression up to 11.x:1 (after decking of the heads and what not)

The 305 heads just can't flow like the 350 so they are just hanging out in the laundry room. I sandblasted the hell out of one of them, it's ready for the leakdown test.

You said you got some aluminum heads?

yup got some aluminum heads of a 350 vette.Got the d port exhaust an screw in studs an guide plates.ready for a roller cam.Hmm i got some 305 heads of a newer engine an the ports are better than the stock 350 heads i have. There sitting here waiting for a motor. My garage is like chevy motor central.Got 4 engine stands with engines on them an also got a home depo flat cart full of engines sitting on there butts waiting to be used. Why u decking heads?305 castings 58cc an 350 have 76cc brings a 8.5 to 9.7 an they flow just fine up to 5k with mild pocket porting.Email me ill hook you up.

man i forget the numbers right off the top of my head. All I know is that if I swap down to 305 heads then my compression goes crazy.. this is counting my existing motor already being shaved, the 305 heads I have needing a shave and whatever else I have with the setup.

I'll let you know what parts I need when I get back to arkansas.
