Carb Sealing

Carb Sealing
Hey
Im trying to turbo a carbed motor and Ive decided to build a sealed box around the carb to...yanno...prevent the carb from exploding...
So my questions are
Do I need any more modifications?
and -
Can I make the box so I can open it up again and take the carb out effectivly? The seals would have to hold 8 psi so is this such a big task?

Re:Carb Sealing
yeah, I know I need an electric fuel pump of about 11 psi and a regulator...
Twas wondering if I need to get a better fuel float and stuff - people with Maximum Boost should be able to help
[dont have it yet, shall be getting it soon hopefully - damn australia being cut off from the world ]

Re:Carb Sealing
Take a look at the sbc turbo thread. I have pics of a homemadeturbo bonnet that works very well at 10 psi of boost.I am running a stock fuel pump an have the vent hole tapped with a fitting for a vacum line an i connect that to base of the carb for boost reference.Works good so far havent had any problems.Ill build you a bonnet an test it before shiping it if you want.Small fee for parts only.

Re:Carb Sealing
Think about this if you want to put the entire carb in a box (which is possible and has been done), you have to have a way for all the fuel and vaccum lines and throttle linkage to get out. thats not easy. like ^he^ said youd be better off making a hat to just cover the top of the carb. Also I don't know of any carb that will handle 11 psi.

Re:Carb Sealing
build a bonnet or buy one off of ebay.Your carb will handle 8 psi with no problem with only a few mods. The stock fuel pump will handle your 8 psi of boost wants.I am running 11 psi on stock pistons an stock fuel pump.If your interested in the mods needed let me know i can let you know what the base setup needs to be an you can take it from there.

Re: Carb Sealing
dont know if your still in need of parts or advice but the stock fuel pump is good for 8psi as long as its boost referenced an the carb can boost. So far mine has handled 14psi with out blowing an gaskets an so forth.

Re: Carb Sealing
Ive run upto 16 psi.
Carbed no box.
No issues. No leaks, no colapsed float bowls. Nada works like a dream.
Do a search for pics of my setup.
Focus on geting the FMU to work.
Focus on targeting arround 8 PSI fuel presure over what ever boost your runing.
Focus on using a good carb that wont **** it self with a turbo. Im runing the Mikuni dual bore. With a link plate.
